Personally I love the fact that these guys' songs are sexually ambiguous. It could be that the first part is the guy singing to his ex-girlfriends' new guy, or it could also be that the singer is gay and signing to a male lover who left him for a woman. There are some interesting lyrics in some of this band's other songs that can be interpreted the same way. I'm not saying the guy *is* gay - I have no idea, and it doesn't really matter to me one way or another. But it's an interesting perspective that would make this song (and others) make a little more sense, to me anyway. |

| This song is intensely personal for me. A few years ago, I met up with a guy...he was beautiful. He was handsome, smart, witty. I pretty much fell for him immediately, and I was really kind of surprised that he'd be interested in me. He ended up drugging me and infecting me with HIV. I hear this song and I feel like I'm right back there in that bar, seeing him from across the room as he's walking towards me to start up a conversation. Just like the guy in the song, I was completely smitten with this guy but he turned out to be a monster. This is a very catchy, and powerful song but it's one that's really hard for me to listen to, as I'm sure you can imagine. | |
