Judee Sill – The Kiss Lyrics

@[spurs1952:2487] I also want this played at my funeral-
more importantly, I just want them to play this record on vinyl at my funeral. no substitutes for the real deal. no church or any nonsense talking about me or what i did, they just sit, talk, and listen to Heart Food.
maybe watch fireworks of my ashes afterwards
this song slays me, somedays i can't even listen to it, it affects me so |

Judee Sill – The Apocalypse Express Lyrics
| 9 years ago

Ok so Ive been listening to this one for a while, tryna get em down. this submission was my first stab.
I don't know if this song is important for anyone else, but for some reason I felt very compelled when i couldn't find lyrics for this tune anywhere on the web, being a Judee fan but not owning Dreams Come True.
Always seemed to me to be a very straight forward but powerful lyric about a train that is the apocalypse and driven by none other than the Lord himself, using people and their souls for fuel in the incinerator. pretty fucking awesome if you ask me...
my newest thoughts: the bit about the "dog", i'm not so sure anymore. could it be "dole" like their taking their lives, destinies what have you to the apocalypse express.
and the parts about "half full and aching" and "one engine burning" are both total guesses, she's mumbling something there... |

The Velvet Underground – Black Angel's Death Song Lyrics

It almost seems like it could be about reincarnation though, given the title and the repetition of "choose again" or "choose to go"
like a trippy narrative of having one foot in the realm of death and one in NYC or something. love this song. |

On the "Decade" notes inside he wrote "Written during the 'Stills-Young tour' on the bus. Sort of a modern Cortez, you know?" |

Neil Young – Tonight's The Night (Parts I & II) Lyrics

I've always wondered what the phrase "tonights the night" actually refers to here. I understand the songs about
his friends that overdosed, but that part seems incomplete: Tonights the night that....something happens.
Any ideas? |

Guitar player who sings the "fix" lines name is Nik Freitas, I think that has something to do with it. |

The phrase "powderfinger" I always thought had to do with drugs, but I immediately think everything is about drugs... |

The Beatles – I Am the Walrus Lyrics

I don't know how you pronounce "got" but it sure does sound more like "smoke" to me. I know that they say it "everybodys got one" but lets face it: The Beatles (especially John) just liked to fuck with people.... It sounds to me like a combination of both "smoke pot" and "got one".
Kind of like the "career" and "korea" in Shady Lane by Pavement. |
