Animal Collective – Brother Sport Lyrics 15 years ago
This album - according to a lot of critics who have given advanced copies to listen to - will be the best of the year. It's so unbelievable that we're hearing this as it'll be a January release.

Also, if any of you are interested in heading to The Metro for the Jan. 22 concert in Chicago, GOOD LUCK. Tickets are being sold on Stub Hub - at it's cheapest - for 250 dollars a piece.

These guys are finally garnering the respect they've deserved since their Sung Tongs brilliance. Granted, they've become a lot more poppy-sounding.

By the way, I'm going to have to agree with Quatzamo's translation diagnosis for this one.

Panda Bear – Bros Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the meaning is quite clear insofar that Lennox is expressing his need for individuality and space during a period of change in his life... considering the birth of his child, his marriage to a lovely wife and his new found digs in Portugal. He's also started a clothing line with his wife - an interior decorator - and has been praised more adamantly for his solo career then for his contributions to AC.

My question is this: What do you think Avey Tare's response would be to this song? Panda Bear doesn't sugar coat that he thinks A.T. is immature, constricting and confrontational. This is only natural in a band that begins to rise to fame and popularity. [Sidenote: I have to believe that after the release of Merriweather that this band will be on the cover of Rolling Stone/Spin/or a publication of similar notoriety]. I think Avey Tare is having a tough time reconciling Panda Bear's solo career with the goals of AC. Panda Bear believes Avey Tare would struggled to resurrect as notable a singular attempt as he and warns him that "what's right for me / ain't for you"

The last "stanza" also muddles the overall perception of the song. Is this an address to his wife as they begin to encounter some of the hardships of matrimony? Surely, he is either reassuring whomever he is speaking to that he'll be by their side no matter the circumstances.

Excellent song. The best track of 2007. Can't wait for AC's new album and hope that Panda Bear isn't done with his autonomous work.

Priscilla Ahn – Are We Different? Lyrics 15 years ago
I understand why everyone loves this song, but do people actually have an opinion as to the meaning of this song?

I'm a bit unsure myself. The old adage is "opposites attract" when it comes to relationships. To me, there needs to be some level of shared experience or some similarity discovered along the way. It's one of those two things that can keep things together and close.

She seems to be talking about a see-saw relationships. Suddenly, the two are shy with each other either out of nervousness or some fear of losing the other. "Come on, things are getting better" is Ahn trying to convince whomever she is talking to that they'll end up working out whatever differences they have. The "high" she refers to insists that there still exists a luster or excitement in their bond.

Just one guy's opinion ;)
