Kill Hannah – They Can't Save Us Now Lyrics 15 years ago
I don't think this song is quite so literal (like running away) nor do I believe that it's necessarily about love. I actually agree with Worldsablur. I think this song is about someone who's lost themselves be it to depression or the result of some tragedy. And he keeps putting on a face, acting like nothing is wrong, for the sake of those around him because he believes that no one can fill that void within.

It's kinda like he's a bystander to everyone else. He's watching the world go by indifferently because, without whatever it is he's missing (be it a lover, friend or family member) he doesn't feel like he belongs in the world. To me it seems like this person is wishing that whoever left had taken him along - 'now take me with you'

'So how can hearts so young feel so much pain' - To me could be others who don't understand what he's going through. They question him and wonder why he's acting the way he is.

'Will they ever understand that we don't want to be like them?' - Could mean that he will never let go of this one missing person like so many other people do. All these people are telling him to just move on, to give it up, be he refuses because he isn't willing to let it go that easily.

All the other meanings fit really well, too. -^ o^-

I completely agree with Riffinton.

Except, what's the 'She's shy and she's gonna die' thing? Sounds kinda morbid. o,o

It could even be that they were on some kind of drugs and, she went outside to wait for him. Then, when he goes out to see her something tragic happens (like she randomly gets hit by a car) and he was too slow to stop it. Now she's gone and he can't forget his mistake.

Ooo, maybe they liked each but his ex wanted him back. So the ex is all over him but the shy girl doesn't say anything. Eventually, the shy girl runs off after the show and the guy follows then she gets hit by said random car. XD

Haha, making up random stuff is kinda fun.

Anyways, another amazing song. Mat is an amazing song writer. -^ o^-

Not one of my favorite Kill Hannah songs but it's the most well known. It's also pretty straight forward. @ w@

The music video was hot, though. XD

Kill Hannah – Kennedy Lyrics 15 years ago
"I'd watch you crash into my arms
We're the stars
Into the barrel of a gun
we die young"

Is how the song actually goes. It's one of my favorite lines from Kill Hannah.

Anyways, an amazing song that pretty much sums up Mat's entire outlook on life. If you read if older journal you can really see where this song came from. It's all about living your dreams until you've got nothing left. Until it consumes everything that you are and will be.

I also agree with Riffinton's meaning. Very good. -^ o^-

Kill Hannah – Nerve Gas Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is just... I dunno. It's the embodiment of awesome. I can't even think of what to say (which is a surprise).

'It's how this little bird heart got so cracked' - Is one of my all time favorite Kill Hannah limes.

BTW, it goes:

'Lying here, in your yard alone
as all the paratroopers drop
it's how this little bird heart got so fucked'

I like it better because, in all their songs (beside Welcome to Chicago) there isn't much cursing. You expect him to say 'cracked' so that line catches you completely off guard. -^ o^-

There are a few more mistakes, too. @ w@

'So why can't we just carry on?' - Goes at the end of the song.

Kill Hannah – Goodnight, Goodbye Lyrics 15 years ago
The acoustic version of this song is beautiful. Unfortunately, when they played it live the drums were too loud to actually hear the song. It made me really sad.

Anyways, this song could mean that, when you put your entire being into something (be it a relationship, job, ect) you sometimes leave behind a part of yourself. And, in time, you can turn into a completely different person. Still, if given the choice to redo your life, you'd make the same decision because it's what you truly believe in.

It how one choice in your life can change everything but, as long as you never look back and continue forward, you'd have made the right decision. As long as you hold onto that one thing you'll never need anything else.

'You're all that I have now
So don't never let me go.'

Kill Hannah – Black Poison Blood Lyrics 15 years ago
Lyrics are wrong.

I think it goes:

It looked like the perfect day
In photos we were smiling
But something was wrong in you, oh
Inside you were suffering
Lungs were barely moving
I wanted to comfort you, oh no

I think everything else is right.

This song is pretty obvious in meaning but, I guess, if you wanted you could make it all mean something completely different. <,<

It's all really clear. It makes me miss how obscure the older songs were. @ w@

Kill Hannah – Hummingbirds The Size Of Bullets Lyrics 15 years ago
Hm, well, I don't really consider this long song. To me it could mean, like, a new beginning? Like when you're doing something you've never done before but you've always dreamed of. It's like singing on stage for the first time and you're all nervous and excited. The lights are so bright and you feel dizzy for no real reason. You're shaking and scared but prepared to just throw it all away for that one moment of doing the thing you truly love.

The 'kite through outer space' - Could just mean everything feels so free but, at the same time, there's that one string holding you down to earth. You're ready to just fly away but there's that one things holding you back. And you're running out of air because you're being suffocated by you're enclosed surroundings. By all these things holding you back but still there's that strong desire to just break free and jump onto the stage.

'It's Humming Birds the size of Space' - Could mean that, when you get that strong urge or desire to do something, it completely takes hold and becomes all you think about. It goes on into infinity and keeps growing. Like space.

Kill Hannah – Sleep Tight Lyrics 15 years ago
It isn't very long but this can have so much meaning to it. It was an amazing way to end the CD and it kinda... Well, summarizes the entire band and their struggles. Though their entire career there were so many forces pressing against them and they had so many chances to just give up. To just let go of their dreams and move on. Through it all, though, the band kept moving forward.

Through the storm they shined doing what they dreamed.

Love you Kill Hannah!

Kill Hannah – Life In the Arctic Lyrics 15 years ago
I love this. It sets the tone for the entire CD. @ w@ Plus, it has an interesting meaning behind it. More people should live their life by these principles.

'Can't help yourself, realize that you condemn ourselves.' - Sounds a little weird but it's right. I always think of it in my head as 'Can't help yourself, realize that we condemn ourselves.'

But, I guess, that each choice you make effects someone or something around you. So, in a sense, what you do tomorrow could have a adverse effect on something else. It's kinda like a ripple effect. Like, if you smile at one person a day for a week. Out of those seven people maybe, for one, that smile made their day bright and, in turn, they helped a total stranger out. That stranger then helped someone else who helped another, ect. Eventually, one could theorize, that the effect with make full circle and the original person will have something good happen to them. Karma, I guess, in a simpler way of saying that.

It can work in reverse, as well. Say, you make fun of some kid in class. It may not seem like a big deal but if you're called something enough you begin to believe that and you being to hate yourself. Then, you start to hate everyone. Suddenly, the world doesn't matter to you because the world never cared about you, anyway. That kid ends up working at some high pressure place, gets fired, and takes a gun to work killing five people. The smallest of acts, or stupid decisions, can have some of the biggest consequences. People don't seem to realize that.

'Can't help yourself, realize that you condemn ourselves.'

Kill Hannah – New Heart For Christmas Lyrics 15 years ago
To me, this song is more like how xThePicturex said it.

It kinda reminds me of when my Grandpa died. The world just seems to stop and I was stuck in that day when they pulled me out of class to tell me. Even during Christmas the world still seems to have stopped moving forward because I couldn't accept the fact that he was gone. No matter how much times passes a piece of me is still stuck there waiting for someone to announce that it was all just some cruel joke and that everything is alright again.

If you go to a theme park when no one is around it's almost as if the park is sad, lonely. Like its waiting for all the people to return and make everything happy once more. The Farris Wheel doesn't move because it's waiting for someone to ride it. But then, as the songs start to play, everyone comes back to life. I see ghost-like people started to walk around, laughing, playing, having fun. Life returns to the park only for it to all fade away when the off-season comes back again. It's the perfect place to go when feeling sad.

You could look at the whole song in a wider scope instead of just some silly relationship ending. Like, in general, when someone experiences heart break or the loss of a loved one the whole world seems like an abandoned theme park. And everyone else are like mannequins: cold, hard and unfeeling.

The lyrics actually go:

Strange Holiday
mannequins still move
As though someone was watching besides me
Their joints are rusty
they chirp like inside there's something alive
oh-no, somehow is strikes me

So, in that sense it could be that someone died right before the holidays and everyone is just trying to be happy and move forward. However, it's hard so he refers to them as mannequins because mannequins are frozen in place. I'm not sure about the 'As though someone was watching besides me' part, however. Maybe, it like, again, when my Grandpa died I was focusing on myself and no one else. Like I was the only one is pain. Then, you see everyone else just trying to move on with their lives even though it's so hard. Their 'joints are rusty' and it hit me that I wasn't the only one suffering.... It's kinda like that.

'I need a new heart for Christmas.
cause you broke it all apart.
put it back together again.
you hit me oh, so hard.
put me back together again.'

That could be very literal, actually. Like, for Christmas, you want a new heart in order to not feel that pain of loss. And you're just screaming to someone, anyone, to just put your heart back together because you're sad during Christmas you don't want to feel like that anymore. Christmas is suppose to be a happy holiday and this one is strange because it isn't happy. At the same time you're angry at the person who made you hurt so badly because it's all their fault and they're the one who abandoned you. You just want to scream and cry and shout but you know that you shouldn't. The pain just hit you so hard that you feel like nothing will every be alright again because you're just so... Broken.

Kill Hannah – Agent Orange Skies Lyrics 15 years ago
That's really interesting, Crushgroove. I hadn't even thought of that but it fits pretty well. -^ o^-

I think it's also about how people believe that teenagers are so happy in their youth. When, really, we go through a lot. All the pressure nowadays to be 'perfect' in our looks and our grades and to have lots of friends can be really hard on someone from 'the wrong side of the tracks'. Like, in my school, you HAVE to have money and HAVE to be a tiny little thing in order to have any friends. If you don't you're just an outcast, for the most part. Even the people who claim to be 'outcasts' are just like everyone else. If you don't act exactly like them then they wont like you. 'In order to be our friend to have to act and dress just like us' kinda thing.

As a teen depression is a big deal and a lot of teens (and people in general) turn to drugs (Hence Crystal Meth Tuxedos)just be happy. It's for release and that turns into addiction. You hide the drugs from the world (maybe out of shame) and people just believe that you're happy because you're young.

'Jump the freight trains' could just symbolize how humans, in general though mostly teens, have this feeling of immortality. Like they can take on the world. Jumping trains is pretty dangerous but when people do it they don't actually believe that they'll be hurt in any way. They say 'Stuff like that doesn't happen to me'. I'm still not sure what Agent Orange Skies would mean, exactly, though. It may just be symbolism not literal.

I'm pretty sure Mat was high when he wrote this song so it might not mean anything at all. I love Kill Hannah but you have to wonder what they were one while writing some of these songs.
