As Cities Burn – Tides Lyrics | 14 years ago |
At first when I heard this I thought he was saying, "Leave your bad limbs behind, gaurd the ways to your heart" Even with the actual lyrics I think that it would be important to remember. Gaurd the ways to your heart. |

Oh, Sleeper – The Color Theft Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is such a gorgeous, haunting song. There's also so much meaning. In my opinion, this song is about someone (namely a Christian) who is on his own (not surrounded by many others) and is going down a destructive path (ref. "every step leads to atrophy"). He is meant for a higher calling, God's calling, but instead is "playing" in a game (life's games. Cheating, laziness, popularity, etc.) that essentially is worthless in the end. He sees what his future could hold and realizes that he's at a fork in the road. He begins to wonder what he's doing and how it's affecting and shaping the people around him including himself. He realizes that he won't be where he wants/should be in the end. As he comes to this realization he begins to break free of this "game" and see that the people around him are just "hope-thirsting sheep" who just do what everyone else does. Hence, the sheep reference. He wants to know why this "family of fighters" (aka. fellow Christians) aren't fighting the battle they should be. Finally, he sees how he was once a strong person but succumbed to the ways of the world(ref. "now I'm lost in the folds and worthless"). He's been dragged down and has now found a better purpose and gotten back to where he wants to be. He begins his upward climb by "following the footsteps of heroes" and not going back to the "safe" way of life. |
