Manchester Orchestra – I Can Feel a Hot One Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm not sure, but I have a strange feeling it means this:

It's about a guy who found something or someone and doesn't exactly know what to think what to feel. She stayed a little long 'to make a point' yet he never found out if it could be real or she was hesitant to let him know for sure. He has this feeling of always being alone, he's bummed yet pretends to hide behind an illusion of being fine...he's not

The drug reference is only as important as saying that what is going through his head is heavy to deal with a little something could help take the edge off, because after that I see little reference to drugs anywhere else.

He is caught with the burning restlessness of what this girl is doing, he wants her she wants him, but it's like shes leaving, or he is and he can't take it.
"I took it like a grown man crying on the pavement
Hoping you would show your face" right there explains it easily.
Honestly think of a girl you met or a guy whatever your fancy and remember finding someone and feeling something special but having it have to end? He got attached, he fell in love and maybe he is finding it is not mutual or it is but half has to go and he will probably never have what he has with her or had with her again.

The next part was talking about their last night...on the way home is she okay...like a guy always asks. Yet all he wanted to do is just hear her voice. That is a sign of fear of loss, like he may never hear it again. A girls voice...just conversation affects a man greater than anyone would ever admit.
He can't sleep, he wants her, that selfishness he refers to is real. Think about how you act when you are about to loose something or never find out if you never had it...you want it even more...his heart is really heavy he is hurt. He is sober because of the feeling. Now it is over, the curtains I feel resemble the expression on her face more than clothes. It's like the last meeting is awkward, she needs to leave he wants her to stay she wishes she could but if they get caught up...it becomes even worse for both emotionally.
"Back when my thoughts weren't entirely intact"
He longs for feeling like he did. thoughts are never intact when you find love or affection.

The end is tough one to prove it is more than a death of someone...again the whole song can be about a woman he was in love with and suddenly she dies, but I think that is the metaphor for what I've been saying. I think here is where he talks about wanting this relationship, instead he is given that but in a different manor. Angels are fine but to have one someone has got to die. Same Idea, to have love he has to realize that that what he has or had may be just what it was...there was the love and he may never have it again. The baby crying in the stomach is like the realizing that the fantasy of a more serious relationship is gone, she would not be the mother of his child.

"And I felt love again"
I think the last line is resolve, finally being able to deal with that space or it is the final kiss.

So that is the way I see it, but I am only giving a interpretation of the song because that is how I read it.

Damien Rice – Delicate Lyrics 15 years ago
I can see all the reasons everyone has stated, but I honestly think it is about a love only of imagining what could have been. I think when he refers to singing in the song, I think it's sex. It's like he found some girl at a time when it had to be played delicate, not because of others watching from a far, but from messing up the chances of knowing what could have been. He meets a girl they sleep together a few times, problem is he has to leave or something of that nature and he feels things he had never felt before. Yet by leaving its like he looses out on seeing what it all could have been. So basically it is like why did she sing, why did she keep leading on if she knew it was never going to work. I don't know its happened to me and the feelings that went through my head are the words Rice sings in this song.
