It's an allegory for Christ delivering his message. Or anyone speaking the truth, but being rejected by close-mindedness. The phrase "Your retro career melted" is nonsensical, but it stands for the idea that the mannequin (messenger) is trying to convey. |

It seems a theme of this song, like much of the album, is the progression of science. I think the album takes place in the future. In a way similar to how "The Geeks Were Right" talks about science of machines ("chainsaw motor that's filled with rain" references the idea that when absolute zero is reached, we can design our molecules to run off the environment), "Forever Growing Centipedes" talks about modifying life. That's not the only theme but it's important to the advancement of the album. |
