when i read your post, i freaked out, because my story is EXACTLY the same. like bizarrely so. and i also relate to this song, and it always reminds me of my ex inthe back of my mind. (the only difference is that my new boyfriend is my ex's best friend...well they arent really best friends anymore haha.) i seriously cant get over your post though..like its the same down to the cute things you said you guys used to go. And my new boyfriend is much more stable, but also less creative and spontaneous. Like you said, he wont dance with me in the living room, but he would buy me the cd. Me and my ex would dance in the parking lot of the gas station waiting for his tank to fill up, he'd play guitar while i sang songs we wrote, we'd watch sunsets from all differnt spots, he'd give me piggyback rides when my feet hurt from my favorite heels, he made me crazy paintings, he built me a cardboard castle and gave me a tiara so i could be a princess for a day. My new boyfriend is amazing, but a little more cliche. I love him, but he is more the make me cute cds, go out to dinner, hold hands and talk all night. We go to the movies without feeling compelled to dress up like the characters and act like them all night, he knocks on the door rather than throwing rocks at my window. However, my new boyfriend also doesn;y get irrationally jealous and possessive, or make me cry because he is so unstable. But I always relate this song to me. |

i know this song is about him being out on tour and her missing him so much she cannot continue the relationship...but i can relate to it differently. i recently ended things with this guy im madly in love with and hes just as in love with me back, because he had too many of his own issues to work out. he would say things like baby just wait a little bit and i swear we can make this work..just like the guy sings in the chorus. but i couldnt wait, i needed him here tonight (haha). and even though he meant so much to me, i just couldnt wait for him to grow up. and he did the same thing, that "i swear ill never be happy again" thing. and i miss him. but this song helps. |

but this story is kinda tragically beautiful. the song is lame, yeah, but the story is not. hes putting up with this chronically depressed chick because he loves her so much that he wont ever stop trying to make her happy. i know a guy just like that...hes stuck with me through absolutely ever stupid stunt ive ever pulled, held me while i cried for countless nights, let me be a cold bitch to him when i got scared of trusting him, and basically just put up with me sometimes being too sad to appreciate him. he takes it upon himself when he cant make me happy, when its no ones fault but mine, and ill love him forever. |

this song is exactly how i feel. i think its about a friend though. like obviously a friend youre in love with...and you want them and you know they want you but for some reason you arent together. and this song is telling them that it doesnt matter abuot the mess youre in, you just need them and love them. "i will go down as your lover, your friend" that line is admitting you want everything. this completely sums up my life...im in love with my best friend and we pretend were dating something...like we hookup and cuddle and hold hands and all that jazz..but he has a long distance gf who he hates. but its like were too scared to lose each other. i literally could cry at the thought of not being with him. its so weird. ive never loved someone so much. |

wow i can relate like right at this moment to this song. basically this song is reinforcing the notion of just how hard it is for guys and girls to be friends...just friends. like you think in the beginning youll be fine but then..."oh no it happened again". and you realize just how much you want them but you cant have them because then you lose the friendship. except sometimes you think it will be okay but it never is. like you always fall for your opposite sex friends espeically if theyre cool and hot haha. its such an honest song, a perfect anthem to teenage friendships. |

i agree that its a long distance relationship. well either that or it could be like he loves this girl, and shes too far away for it to work between them, like they cant handle staying together when theyre physically so far apart but he knows if they were closer theyd be all over each other. not in the tacky hook up sense, but in the way that theyd be inseperable. its a very wistful sounding song. i love this band. |
