Coldplay – Pour Me Lyrics 15 years ago
pour me, so blind i couldn't see
the flowers or the trees, i don't know why.

i think it makes more sense if it's like:
the forrest for the trees, does it?

Death Cab for Cutie – Summer Skin Lyrics 15 years ago
No, not yet^^

Tiny Vessels does also belong to this category, comparing with Photobooth. It have been said already, but the period of time of the fling is much shorter and it isn't summer. By the way, the situation is quite the opposite (he left her; "she don't mean a thing to him").
He lied to her ("That you told her that you loved her, but you don't"), just like:
"All the slander and double speak
Were only foolish attempts to show you did not mean"
Maybe just the another view of Photobooth, in another circumstances.

Death Cab for Cutie – Summer Skin Lyrics 15 years ago
Some songs are really sad and melancholic just like this one. I think this is the reason i couldn't stop listening and paraphrase the lyrics (=

I've found some similarities about Summer (flings, romances, etc.) in DCFC-lyrics I just want to share:

At the beginning of Summer Skin, "squeaking swings" is used to create an image, but in Lightness it become a constant background noise (Oh wha-ho, oh wha-ho... is just this sound in words (minding it's an earlier release than Summer Skin))
Maybe Ben and Chris like this metaphor^^

Next, Summer Skin is focused on the change in/after childhood, so my understanding so far. Especially a relationship or friendship which ends after u change school, move to another town and so on.

In contrast to Photobooth, which is surely a great song, he loved her innocent and naive. Maybe in an age u wouldn't even think of sex. But both songs are set in summer and end with the fact that 2 people have to "move on".
In Photobooth it's a bit more difficult to understand. Fact is, the boy had sex with the girl and soon the infatuation was gone. He thought he was in love, but finally realized it all wasn't more than a summer fling.

There's also a little connection to the song Crooked Teeth, in which the guy says (to himself or who ever^^):
"Because I built you a home in my heart
With rotten wood that decayed from the start
Because you can't find nothing at all
If there was nothing there all along"
Also a not working relationship.

But the most impotant thing is the part:
"I'm a war of head versus heart
And it's always this way
My head is weak, my heart always speaks
Before I know what it will say"

We've come full circle from Lightness to Crooked Teeth. Both songs' mainpart is about the conflict between mind and feels.

That's it, for now :P

anyway i like that swing :D
