whenever i look up any lyrics on this sight theres always at least a few comments suggesting that the song, no matter what it is must be about sex why does it always have to be sex? why can't we accept that maybe they're trying to write abot something deeper? im not saying i have anything against sex, and i know some songs really are, but why must every single song ever be led back to sex? |

this song means so much to me, so so much. I cannot belive how emotional i get when I listen to this song.. Its crazy, in the verse with the "everything I make it trite and cheap" and so on is definately the best verse, it almost mirrors my whole teenage life. All conors songs have so many things that anybody can relate to this song is so amazing I have trouble getting over it and the way he sings it with so much honesty and passion, just the sound of his voice makes me want to cry bright eyes can be quite depressing really. |

the whole 'father' bit confuses me, where did everyone get the idea that it must have been the father? i always thought that it was an old boyfriend/husband who raped or abused the said girl, 'tell his brand new wife and second kid' so the girl in question was married and had a child with the rapist or abuser and then he left afterwards mayeb I'm wrong but I don't see the father thing at all |

In my opinion this song is about someone looking back maybe? like nostalgia about their childhood this town in not a very happy way. They were unhappy with their life there and have bad memories from it. The line "when you notice the stripes, the dirt in your fries" i think refers to growing up and figuring out that everything isnt alright, when your a child everything seems wonderful and as you mature you realise all the flaws of your life. but, the whole "new slang" thing i dont exactly get, i think it might mean like, new words you make up (well i guess thats extremly obvious) but i dont understand it in the context of this song. any help? |
