before coming to see what this song was about, i had felt a negativity in it. like a possessive vibe to it. and it automatically made me think of how someone is so dependent on drugs that they'll take it to the point of relationship. that's why drugs ruin many relationships is because of addiction. that person abandons the relationship he had with the people he loved and turns that love toward a substance. and when you get that fix that you're wanting, you feel on top of the world and that no one can stop you. |

it seems to me like this is about suicide. the narrator is trying to reach out to this girl, that's a friend of his. he's trying to tell her not to give in and that he'll be there for her because he knows what it's like to hit rock bottom and what it's like to have people push negativity on him. he's letting her know that everything will be all right as long as she confides in him and lets him lead the way to safety away from all the bullshit that the world has to offer. |

i don't believe this song has anything to do with vampires, but the fact that this guy has been waiting for this girl to come around for a very long time. the first part of the song shows signs of loneliness. the narrator feels like he's all alone since she isn't there and that his life feels empty and cold without her there. she left him and broke his heart. second part resembles that this "strangle of veins" is the loss of blood he's feeling from not having her around. same as the first, even though she hurt him by leaving him, he'll go through it again just to have her around because his love for her is so strong. but something he's doing is making her unhappy and the "coming closer" signifies that he feels the end of their relationship coming. he'll wait as long as it takes and the 2000 years is just to show that he's been waiting for what seems to be like forever, but he loves this girl so much that he'll wait as long as it takes for her to come around and be with him. |

She has been trying to hide this infidelity, but he knows what's going on and the relationship is about to come to an end. this song to me is about how humans are so selfish and how they will do anything for themselves. Where does your garden grow? Selling the secret to the sun Welcome to the Universe this verse makes me think about how a person will do what it takes to get ahead of someone else in life. even the line, "where are the holy ones? Selling the secret to the sun" seems to be saying that even these people that profess to be huge religious people will even tell your secret if it saves face or gets them ahead in life. Then the "Welcome to the Universe" line seems to be said in a sarcastic tone. |

What's with the fascination with the Echelon What's with the constant questions that you have this time (The Echelon in this case could be that an Echelon is used as an attack formation, kind of a flanking technique. He could be asking why she is constantly trying to keep tabs on him 24/7 and watching every move he makes.) (The second line coincides with the first. The questions she continues to ask him about what he may be doing, what he's doing, who he's with, etc. Kind of a nagging and persistence that is annoying him and that he is telling her not to worry.) |
