What a great song. I love the Live Version released on the Detox taster. Definitely, this is about the disappearance of Nikola's brother. On his solo tour, I caught him looking into the crowd perhaps hoping his brother would be there. In fact I wonder if an entire career of genius can be fueled and driven solely by the hope that "If I play so well, and be so famous, one day even my brother will have to come down to see me play. I will play in every town and village, till I find him." A mate of mines' brother died, but they had to bury him straight away (nature of his injuries) so my mate never saw him again. He stared into the sunset for years thinking maybe it was a mistake; that his brother had run away... his every idle minute was spent thinking "he might just show up any minute". I can think of nothing more deeply saddening. I guess this song may be written for NS' brother's point of view; how you always think no one will miss you, and that life will be better after you are gone. This is just not the case, everyone leaves a big hole when they are gone. |
