Forgive Durden – The Oracle (feat. Danny Stevens) Lyrics 15 years ago
I adore the falsetto in this song. Nothing better than a true countertenor doing his thing ♥

Forgive Durden – Genesis (feat. Casey Crescenzo) Lyrics 15 years ago
O the Scientist and Ahrima (along with the other deities, presumably) are creating the world during this song. Hence the title 'Genesis'. They're describing the process and how all they really did was create potential for the world and let humans truly make the world what it is.

Colin sings both William and the narrator, so it could be that he's singing as the narrator in that last line.

The Decemberists – The Abduction of Margaret Lyrics 15 years ago
It's probably a motif for whenever Margaret is in trouble.

Myfawnwy is a Welsh name, so this could possibly take place in Wales. William and Margaret are also common Welsh names, as is Charlotte. Not sure about Isaiah and Dawn.

The Decemberists – Isn't It a Lovely Night? Lyrics 15 years ago
I think she's reminiscing about making love in that same place in the forest.

The Decemberists – The Hazards of Love 2 (Wager All) Lyrics 15 years ago
He's saying that he doesn't care that his mother is evil and Margaret's pregnant, he just wants to love her. I don't think she's giving birth yet, because lots of stuff happens to her and she doesn't seem to have a baby with her, so she's probably still pregnant.

The Decemberists – Sixteen Military Wives Lyrics 15 years ago
This is one of the best anti-war songs because it isn't blatantly angry or sad: it's cheerful, which adds even more bleakness to the picture. The upbeatness emulates the la-di-da-ness of the anchorpeople and of culture in general.

The Decemberists – Eli, the Barrow Boy Lyrics 15 years ago
It was customary in the 18th century to plant pine trees in cemeteries because they are everlasting trees. So her grave is probably in the middle of a bunch of pines. I'm guessing she died from disease, such as tuberculosis, not from being murdered. And him being buried in a churchyard suggests that he is poorer, and possible orphaned, and therefore they buried him in the churchyard, not in the large cemetery.

Empires – Valmont Lyrics 16 years ago
I still don't think that's quite right. These are my additional corrections:

You told me just to breathe, but you stole my breath

Two ex-lovers robbing quick
Both so frantic for the fix

Keep on, hold on to me
