| I think this song is more of a veiled attack on the growing number of pale, 'artsy', 'bi-curious' emobois than it has anything to do with homosexuality. I think what the narrator is really doing is calling him out on the fact that he's a self-absorbed, pretentious little poseur rather than insulting his sexuality [or lack thereof]. | |

As a lesbian, this song makes me a bit queasy. Not that I have anything against bisexual people per se [as the saying goes, some of my best friends are bi], but when I look at the lyrics of this song, all I can read into it is...well, what about the other girl? The song completely overlooks the thoughts and feelings of the other girl mentioned in the song, which bothers me somewhat because in many situations, I have been that girl. No matter what people tell you about 'experimenting' it really isn't nice or 'cool' to mess with other people's feelings, especially if you could be leading them on. Though I'm glad this song promotes diversity and such, from my personal experience, I can't help but feel that the narrator is somehow undermining the sexuality of both herself and the girl she kissed. She should really be more considerate. WIthout reading that much into it, of course, I love the song itself--it's amazingly catchy and fun. |
