I think this song is about nerves. I think hes nervous about talking to someone bc he knows hes likely to fuck it up.
I too saw their fake final performance at bamboozle last year. Their last two real shows were at the trocadero, when they made a toast to themselves on stage, arthur's dad crowd surfed. This was right after his mom died, he sang this beautiful song and dedicated it to her as he choked back tears. I can honestly say, that was the best weekend of my life. The Early November can move me like no other, and Im proud to say I was at those shows as well as bamboozle. they ended the troc show with this song as well. They said it made them feel young again. |

i agree completely with importantopolis, when he says this is one of the most bittersweet emo songs ever. Ive been saying that for a long time myself. It is hard to accept the fact that something that was once the most important thing to you, could become something so insignificant. To go from being someone's everything to being nothing at all. I think Arthur can finally accept that and is happy nonetheless. When he says he's done acting and will be happy for your life even if i hate it all, that is when he comes to the realization that he truly can appreciate life even if it is without that person. And he will love it even if it isn't perfect. |

I think Horse the Band said it perfectly. You do have to listen to the Path Cd to truly get this song. It is not about money being a decoration or corporate greed. It is about misleading a child (arthur's father) into believing his parents are his aunt and uncle. All of the metaphors go perfectly with the facade that he lived until his grandma died. |

I think this song accurately depicts the pain that Arthur was going thru when he wrote this entire cd. The pain of the band staying together for the wrong reasons versus staying together for the fans. Very powerful! |
