New Radicals – I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away The Ending Lyrics 16 years ago
Of course I agree this guy is a genius, and his record, which he mostly produced and wrote and played everything on is probably one of the greatest albums of our generation.

But about this song, I take it as more humorous than some of the others above. There are parts of this song that to me are fantasy, and are really just an imagination going wild about what could happen with a girl like this.

Either way you take it, there's a lot to digest here in these brilliant lyrics. I have always laughed when I hear this song - having even had run-ins with "Drug days" in my past. To me, this is about having a friend who has no control over her life, but you yourself having no ability to say no or distance yourself from something where you already know how it will end. The whole song it's obviious to him, and he expects the listener, how this mess will end - so it's sort of a sarcastic - "I hope I didn't just give away the ending." And of course, it ends with her death and his life ruined.

But did this ever actually literally happen? Come on, I really doubt it. It's just too over the top, and I believe intended to make you laugh, and at the same time connect with the realities of these types of relationships which some of us have experienced.

Thanks - David
