The Format – If Work Permits Lyrics 15 years ago
Dangit Citizen Dildo I came on here just to say that...its like the story of The King of Carrot Flowers with Holland, 1945's music...love it.

Dead Confederate – The Rat Lyrics 15 years ago
These guys have the potential to be huge someday I do believe...my favorite song of theirs. Favorite line has to be "Draw tiny pictures 'round all the dead leaves"...which doesn't match up with ^those lyrics...just really cool imagery of the chalk outlines of murder victims...in leaf form.

Manchester Orchestra – I Can Feel a Hot One Lyrics 15 years ago
After reading Sunris3's comment, it kinda sounds like the narrator is committing suicide after the events described in the song. Especially the line "my teeth ripping out of my head" and maybe even "back when my thoughts were entirely intact".

Kind of gruesome to think about but those two lines combined with the first stanza kind of sound like a bullet going through someone's head.

But I still think the events in question involving his pregnant lover dying in a car crash...just my two cents.

Brand New – Bought a Bride Lyrics 15 years ago
As soon as I found these lyrics, I thought about childhood and elementary school...call me crazy but:
-The first two lines sound like the Shel Silverstein book "The Giving Tree" (look it up)
-The reading text books in elementary school have a "Hard Words You'll Need To Know" section before every story.
-The "cars are blood cells, the people inside are the oxygen, our bodies are a city" analogy is the first thing I ever learned about the circulatory system back in like 4th grade.
-"Tied her up and laid her on the train tracks" reminds me of the old Snidely Whiplash cartoons.

Haha, I know a lot of this probably sounds contrived, but it was just my initial reaction, especially the "Giving Tree" part...any thoughts?

The last time I saw these guys live, Andy said "This is a song about the 'pocalypse"...and then the rocking commenced.

Brand New – Play Crack the Sky Lyrics 16 years ago
I know the connection to the band "Crack the Sky" has been mentioned before, but I checked them out, and they have a song called "A Sea Epic", in which a deck hand on a sinking ship asks God to save everyone on the ship but him, citing all the reasons the others deserve to live. In the end, God tells the deck hand to pretty much butt out and that He knows what is best.

Manchester Orchestra – Where Have You Been Lyrics 16 years ago
The lyrics to this song (middle portion especially) had confused me since I heard them play it in summer of '06, until a few months ago when I let a Catholic friend of mine listen to it:

"When you look at me, I'll be digesting your legs, Cause I can hardly see what's in front of me"

Think about taking communion. In a lot of churches there's a statue of Jesus at the front looking over the sanctuary. So when he's taking communion (I don't think he's Catholic, but work with me) he's literally digesting Christ's legs as Christ looks at him...but as it says he's lost sight of Jesus.

Sorry bout the long rambly-ness, but it made the most sense to me.
