Jack Johnson – You and Your Heart Lyrics 13 years ago
This sing is about RACISM and about the type of people who feel superior to others. People who feel they are greater than God himself ("the sum of everything").

According to this song, racists shoudn't feel so much diferent from the rest because they are just humans, just like everyone else (shouldn't feel so far apart). Also, no matter how much money they have and how much "light you refect fromt he sun", at the end of the day you're just another human.

"You got the people passing by
Because you know what you don't like
It's just so easy, it's just so easy"
Racists reject people and don't even talk to other races, but they really don't know what they are missing out. Try to accep others, "it's so easy".

"You draw so many lines in the sand
Lost the fingernails on your hands
How you're gonna scratch any backs?
Better hope that time will take our lines away"

You separate so much from others that no one will be willing to help help you on the day you are in need. When that day comes, and it will come, you better hope that people forget how racists you were.

Sarah McLachlan – Good Enough Lyrics 14 years ago
KAFRASER is right on track, in my opinion anyway, with very little change. Here's KAFRASER's interpretation:

"""I think it's about trying to help someone through depression caused by a traumatic event. He (she) who is depressed refuses or can't let go whatever happened. Instead he hangs on to the past, sadness and trauma, not letting anyone help convince him that he deserves so much more then living life in sadness. But he keeps pushing people away. Nothing is good enough to make him happy. He just comes up with reasons why nothing is good enough, nobody is good to him. And the reasons always circle back to the same thing: the past.

But the truth is he won't let people be good to him. Doesn't see that people ARE good to him and have been trying to be good to him. And that right there is exactly the reason why nothing is good enough.

So don't tell me and others that we didn't try. If you'd just let me try, I will be good to you. It's basically about the inability to let yourself be happy and instead blame others for your unhappiness."""

Amazing insight from KAFRASER Good job! The only thing I would add/change about KAFRASER's interpretation is that the song is sung from a woman (Sarah) to another woman friend who has been abused so much by her father/mother/society/spouse, possibly also sexually molested as a little girl by some one who offered her candy, someone who physically broke her bones as a child and now she's in denial that someone actually did it to her. This abused woman has lost all hope in people and in life. Sarah is trying to help her friend recover the hope she has long lost, trying to convince her that their friendship is "Good Enough", that life can be "Good Enough" once again.

LONG LIVE SARAH MCLACHLAN!!! I LOVE HER, HER ART, MUSIC, TALENT AND PERSONA. DELIGHTFULLY AMAZING SHE IS!!!

Daddy Yankee – Gasolina Lyrics 15 years ago
I used to hate this song because I never took the time to really listen to it. Now, I can't say that I love this song, but I think its one of the most energetic party starters ever!!! (I'm a DJ by the way).

Anyway, if you think this song is about sex, then it is about sex. If you think this song is about dancing, then it is so. if you think this song is about motor engines and fuel, then it is about that too. If you think this song is about....... (fill in the blank).

Men at Work – Down Under Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree this is an amazing song, Kudos to MAW!!!
But making it the Aussie national anthem? Come on people... loads of pot, much opium, crooks, an ugly ole' chick, a sandwich, and a piece-of-crap car... is that all there is to Great Australia...
How about throwing in some Kangaroos, Russell Crowe, Nicole Kidman, an plenty of koalas... now that would be a complete National Anthem... yeah!!
Am I missing somthing?

Natalie Merchant – Seven Years Lyrics 16 years ago
This songs is about regreting having loved someone (or something) so intensely and completely to the point of not seeing the lies and deception. She sings this song after realizing the painful truth. As she sorrowfuly remebers how deep in love she was, she regrets those long seven years now lost. I love this song because it reveals how deep and profound True love can be to that point of blindness>>> Like a double edge bliss that can make us fly up high and/or destroy us in an instant. Through this song, Natalie so beautifully warns us about the risks and dangers of loving blindly.

Pearl Jam – Yellow Ledbetter Lyrics 16 years ago
Can't you see it?? The ideas in this song truly appeal to the American consciousness. That is why this song is easy to like and love even by non-fans like myself. Listen to the ideas presented by the singer, the instrumentals and the song as a whole:

--SADNESS
--DEPARTURE
--A SOLDIER KILLED IN ACTION
--A SOLDIER'S RETURN
--MOURNING A HERO
--AN IMPOSSIBLE LOVE
--A SAD GOODBYE
--FAMILY
--CRYING
--A LETTER WITH SAD NEWS
--A LONELY BEACH
--THE SPIRITUAL REALM
--WAR
--A HOUSE'S PORCH
--A MELANCOHOLIC GUITAL RIFF
--A SLOW RYTHM/SLOW AGONY
And last but not least:
--A SINGER'S DESPERATE VOICE TEARING AND CRYING IN PAIN

All these ideas combined make a whole lot of sense to the True American audience because these ideas talk of the reality of war, the reality of the American past, present and future... the painful human aspect and toll of war on which this nation is funded.
Even if the lyrics themselves do not make a whole lot of sense, this song touches the deepest strings of the true American heart.
The dudes from Pearl Jam are geniuses. Purposely or by chance, they hit gold with this track.

Natalie Merchant – Beloved Wife Lyrics 16 years ago
...Am I the only one who cries of sadness everytime I listen to this song?... The sadness, the loss, the anguish, the desperation and the love of the lonely old man are all magnified and intesified by Natalie's superb voice. At the end it makes you want to justify and grant the old man his suicidal wishes. The piano is beautiful, simply moving and nostalgic itself. You're right, one of Merchant's best songs (if not her best).

Gavin DeGraw – Follow Through Lyrics 16 years ago
In any relationship you have to Meet the other person half way. Love can't just be told or understood. It has to be expressed, acted upon and demonstarted equally by both parts involved. The person singing is more matured and experienced than the one listening. Gavin does a great job putting this ideas in a kind, loving way. Great Love Song!!

Depeche Mode – Now, This Is Fun Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is about being a young punk, misbehaving, doing pranks, not following the rules and still having fun at it. Yet, knowing in the back of your mind that what you do is wrong and that you should know better... Very clever DM lyrics... Love the extra melody on the extended version.
