The Lumineers – Stubborn Love Lyrics 11 years ago
Pretty straightforward song. He's in love with a girl who has just hurt him over and over and over again in the past. But it really doesn't matter to him at all. He can't just forget about his love for her

The Lumineers – Slow It Down Lyrics 11 years ago
I would almost like to go with the prostitution interpretation. I think he is a lonely guy, and perhaps this girl who is selling herself is actually someone he has known for a while. He sorta feels dirty when he's with her, "Some love was made for the light" which leads me to believe that whatever they did was not. "Some kiss your cheek and goodnight" leads me to believe that that is not usually what happens with her. He wishes that she could just be there with him, and act like its just the two of them and get away from it all "act like you've been here before", "Come back to bed, rest your arms, rest your legs". He explains that she is actually better then what she lets on, and that when the other guys are done just get on, don't ask for anything else. He finishes just saying that if she finally let him in, and let love grab ahold of her, that she might be able to let go of her current situation. Could be just a very free woman, or a prostitute, either way it works

The Head and the Heart – Cats and Dogs/Coeur D'Alene Lyrics 12 years ago
Cats and Dogs is possibly my favorite song on this album, and it makes me wish it was 10 minutes long...instead of 2

The Head and the Heart – Down in the Valley Lyrics 12 years ago
I see this song as him talking about how he isnt satisfied with what he has done in his life and how he wishes that he could have used his time more wisely or for a better purpose then what he has done. And along with that he wishes he had been to many different places, but instead has wasted away in the same old place drinking away his sorrows.

Ra Ra Riot – Keep It Quiet Lyrics 13 years ago
I have to say off their new EP this song is the best, which is saying a lot because all 3 songs are amazing. Have to say that this song is definitely about a struggling relationship, one that may be forbidden but they love the person so much that they dont want to let go. He tells them that if they compromise that he might be able to stick around for longer. He goes on to tell them that if they are going to stick around that they should know that it could be cold, "Cold water for cooling down. But you know THAT when you stay around". Their torn. His heart is beating so loudly and hes asking it to "keep quiet", that he shouldnt feel this way about this person seeing how cold the relationship can be at times. He has all sorts of doubts and questions himself why he would want to stay around. Just my take on it, great song.

Blind Pilot – Three Rounds And A Sound Lyrics 15 years ago
okay, does anyone else hear in the 4th verse swimming instead of sleeping? I hear that everytime I listen to the song but every lyric site I have been to has it listed as sleeping. I just dont understand, he clearly says swimming, at least in the version that I have....

Frightened Rabbit – The Modern Leper Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is great and has some really good lyrics. It is definately about addiction, clearly in the lines, "Vitally he doesn't miss them, He's too fucked up to care" and "You see, I've got this disease I can't shake And I'm just rattling through life". The person in the song is using his drug so much and so often he doesn't care about anything else in his life, and later on in the song he doesn't care about life at all, "Well, I am ill, But I'm not dead, And I don't know which of those I prefer", and he is the modern leper, a person with what same may call a disease, that is completely destroying him.

Now comes the point of the rest of the song. This other person, who may or may not be the drug addicts lover (I am more inclined to think that it is), is always there for him, trying to help them through this. And the drug addict thinks that this person must be a masochist, because the person is in so much pain to have to see the person they love killing themselves with drugs. I think that when he states "So I cut out all the good stuff, Yeah, I cut off my foot to spite my leg", he is meaning he is cutting this person out of his life, and he knows he shouldn't, because this is the only person who is there for him, evidenced where he says "Because that limb which I have lost, Well, it was the only thing holding me up." And i think at the end of the song he is trying to get this person back, saying they can start again, and he will be there for her, asking her what she did today.

Wolf Parade – Kissing The Beehive Lyrics 15 years ago
Seing as though this song definately has a belief/disbelief in god or religion, I had an interpretation for a part of the song. When he states that "We all hate the landlord baby, its alright, its alright", for some reason I have always felt he was referring to god as the landlord, seing as though he would be in a context of this is the planet he supposedly created, and Jesus being his baby, thus, we (as in he) hate the landlord baby. Just a thought, let me know what you think

Interpol – Pioneer to the Falls Lyrics 16 years ago
I know some of you had been wondering what "show me the dirt pile and i will pray that the soul can take, three stowaways" means. I was wondering if you think he means that he wishes so much that he could be with her, that hes praying that the sould can take his mind, soul/heart, and his body with her. Just an idea
