Jawbox – Motorist Lyrics | 8 years ago |
@[ratanx:8606] I actually thought it was based on Ballard's book Crash, although I never read The Concrete Island so you could be right |
Samiam – Cradle Lyrics | 8 years ago |
Obviously about drug addiction |
Manic Street Preachers – Democracy Coma Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Love this song. Musically it sounds like what Jimmy Eat World would sound like as a glam rock band. |
Manic Street Preachers – Little Baby Nothing Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I also heard that Traci Lords had no idea the song was partly written about her when she sang it. It gives me goosebumps to hear her voice knowing the backstory of this song, Just curious, am I the only American commenting on MSP songs? MSP has to hold the world record for most hit records worldwide without one chart appearance in the U.S. |
Fugazi – Rend It Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Just saw a live performance of this on YouTube. Guy says before the song either "It's about a virgin" or ""Its about perversion" |
Ladytron – Sugar Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Actually, it's "Alone is where we leave you, alone is where we'll find you" |
Ladytron – Sugar Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I always thought the lyrics were "who knows where we'll leave you, who knows where we'll find you". which gives a notion that those kind of suppliers come and go. |
Manic Street Preachers – Bag Lady Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I'm so glad I finally checked the lyrics. All this time I've been singing "Rabbits in Love" |
The Human League – Mirror Man Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think it's about a man who wishes to win the love of someone by mirroring their every interest while fulfilling their every wish. There is also a be a retrospection involved, as I think the author has realized he will never win that love and has moved on, this telling his object that their friendship may had been fake. |
The Raveonettes – Recharge & Revolt Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think it's about a serious relationship that was destroyed by some personal vices and years later they are trying to come together wondering if they still have that original magic that the relationship was founded on |
David Bowie – John, I'm Only Dancing Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I remember hearing once, back in the 80s, that this song was David Bowie aplogizing to John Lennon for fantasizing about Yoko Ono...yet I dont think Bowie and Lennon became friends until 1975 |
Gene Loves Jezebel – Desire Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Sugar" may actually be "sure sure". |
D.I. – Chiva Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Chiva=street name for heroin |
D.I. – O.C. Life Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I always thought it was "714 tattooed on my head" since 714 is one of the orange county zip codes |
Hole – Violet Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I dont think this song is about Kurt or written by Kurt. Their are demo versions of Violet circulating dating as early as 1991. |
45 Grave – Party Time Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Zombie Version Very young, getting kicks crusin' around 56 drinking beer, driving fast This party is their last They'll dance on the graves The lost souls, Satan's slaves They don't know the acid rain Is coming down to make them insane Do you wanna party, it's partytime We got to party, It's Partytime They Never Had The Chance! Shifting gears, wasting gas This party is their last Paid their wage of sin today That's life but the dead say Do you want to party......... |
45 Grave – Party Time Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is indeed in Return of the Living Dead, however with different lyrics. It's called Party Time (Zombie Version) and has lyrics more in common with the movie plot. And a crazy 80s metal guitar solo as well. |
Wipers – Nothing Left To Lose Lyrics | 15 years ago |
My fave Greg Sage song. I think "Nothing but words, anyway", should say "not with words, anyway", but every lyric site I checked has this. It seems like 90% of Wipers songs are about alienation and finding someone who can relate to his alienation "Let's stick around my secret ground And watch the world spin into sand" He is saying that the world is going to hell, but he has a special place in his mind that he escapes. |
The Brian Jonestown Massacre – Anenome Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I am not quite sure who the singer is, but it's not Miranda Lee Richards. I think it's the girl who Anton threw out of the room when he was on H in Dig!. The one that left the band married some guy in Tahiti. Would love to hear the Anton version. Yes, a very sexy song...it kinda has a Mazzy Star like atmosphere. |
Jawbox – Spiral Fix Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This song is obvous about death, perhaps an accident. I am just not sure exactly in what context |
Lil Jon – Move Bitch Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Quoting Chris Rock: "well, as you can see, there is a bitch. And he is in his way. Thus the term 'move bitch get out of the way'. You need to find out who the bitches are in yoru life so you can move them out of the way". |
T.S.O.L. – Darker My Love Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Some history: Darker My Love was a song TSOL did for the movie Suburbia in 1982, during their brief transition into a post-punk new wave band (following the footsteps of their idols The Damned). The movie and soundtrack feature a live version of this song. A studio version was not included in the Beneath the Shawdows albums, although it was rumored to had been recorded. When the original core of TSOL started reuniting 15 years later, Darker My Love was the most requested song to be included on a new studio album, but all three records released in the new TSOL era have not included a new version. Finally, TSOL has offered this song on their SnoCap STore on their myspace page. It sounds like the original recording with new vocals from Jack Grisham. Obviously the song is about a love gone wrong, spoken through some very dark metaphor (eyes blacker than hell). Jack also admits , like sunset, as soon as she loves him less, he loves her more. |
Placebo – Pure Morning Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I want to thank everyone for their own intrepetations. I always thought it was about drug addiction and that pure morning was the coming down part of it. But the man-woman friendship aspect is amazing. Now, not that music videos really ever give us an insight to what a song really means, I think it's important to note that the entire music video to Pure Morning surrounds a suicide attempt. Just something to think about. http://youtube.com/watch?v=jQQmAP9Poo4 |
The Brian Jonestown Massacre – Vacuum Boots Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Not sure of the meaning, but I always thought this would make a great Cure song. It's like the best song Robert Smith never wrote |
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Lien on Your Dreams Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I have actually used this song to describe the recent separation from my wife. I believe that, either soley or within a union with another person, you set goals for yourself. But when you let greed overtake your life (drugs, infidelity, etc), you are basically holding off your dreams and goals for a time farther in the future. You will not truly own your dreams until you are truly focused, espcecially with united with another person. Both parties have to be focused on the same mission in life. |
