Tool – Parabol Lyrics 16 years ago
silent ricochet i concur. it is painfully obvious to ANYONE who has ever read Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth (provided you could comprehend it >.>). which isn't even much of a new philosophy but several combined ideas. I highly recommend it to anyone who knows whats good for them :D But as the book says if your not ready then its just not gonna happen.

So familiar and overwhelmingly warm
This one, this form I hold now

He is referring to his material self simple as that.

Embracing you, this reality here
This one, this form I hold now
So wide-eyed and hopeful

Here he is accepting both his self and his formal self. He is ready for what is to come.

We barely remember what came before this precious moment
Choosing to be here right now, hold on, stay inside
This body holding me, reminding me that I am not alone in
This body makes me feel eternal, all this pain is an illusion

"This precious moment" is Now, the only place you will ever be. You must choose to be only in this precious moment, the only one you will ever be given for as long as you live. Stay strong stay with your body it needs you. He is not alone (as silent ricochet said) because we are all energy "all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration" and "we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively"

Although this song does not mention the ego Reflection does

So crucify the ego before it's far too late to leave behind this place, so negative and blind and cynical
And you will come to find that we are all one mind, capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable
Just let the light touch you and let the words spill through, just let them pass right through, bringin' out our hope and reason

The ego is the enemy of all mankind and it is in every one of us only consciousness can conquer the ego.

If your oh so feeble mind (i didn't say it, twas my ego) cannot comprehend what i am saying then you need to read A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle NOW

Tool – Schism Lyrics 16 years ago
I'm not gonna go for an all out interpretation of this song but i think this song is about the lack of communication humans have. It's hard to notice if you don't step back (mary jane helps a little with this too lol) and take a good hard look at every single human being (not literally for those special people out there) and put them all into one. I tried and i couldnt do it. the image i got was still spread out into tons of different sections. now the point is that we have such complex languages that its as if we aren't ourself anymore but we are all caught up in thoughts. "we cannot see to reach an end, crippling our communication." I believe that our egos make it so we aren't comprehending things correctly. You've got to take a selfless look at everything, try to think in images not in words and see what you come up with (don't do it all the time cuz then youll probably become stupid or something). The ego thing is why we have war, greed, and some other shit that i dont feel like saying.

rot in hell

Black Light Burns – Lie Lyrics 16 years ago
i agree with reverie for the most part but here is my idea...

I'm not quite sure about the first verse, although i might come back later and comment about that after i think about it some more.

I'm irrelevant
And I'm living down in the shit
I follow these pigs around
But i never get used to it
'cause they keep building and building
Their feculent franchise...

To me it seems he thinks life is a charade and he's realized it unlike everyone else and once you do life is completely SHITTY. On to the rest.

I wish i could see this filth
Through someone else's eyes
'cause ignorance was bliss
But now i must adjust
These animals, they operate
On jealousy and lust
I'm taking back what was lost
And i will not be denied
I'm crawling my way to the surface outside

These lyrics are possibly the best lyrics i have ever read/heard. Anyways, he sees life as if it is fake and doesn't like it and now wishes he could see it normally again by looking through someone else's eyes. OK this is going to take some explaining because i have never been able to reach this state unless i was really messed up from marijuana. But it seems that he thinks he will be able to gain back his ignorance by, in a sense, making his way to the outside. Now whenever I get to this state it feels like there is some sort of boundary on our brains and it feels like there is something on the other side. Possibly something with all of the answers. Or, "Now I'm burning alive, just like you" this is what happens, it sends us back down to the bottom. I don't know for sure. Just a thought...

Mushroomhead – Simple Survival Lyrics 16 years ago
Gonna lead the revival
No simple survival
For me

This part kinda sums it up for me. He is talking about humanity, he wants to revive it. He's not just going to simply live hes going to try to change the world.

I agree with Hmmmmm that it is religious. I agree with your interpretation except for one part.

"so naïve
to keep holding on to what I want to believe
i can see
but i keep holding on and on and on and on"

He thinks that his belief is naive but he still believes it for whatever reason. Although he can see that it most likely isn't true he nonetheless keeps believing it, whatever it may be. He never says its a religion. He could just be talking about belief in general, how we are basically made to belief things whether your an atheist, a Pastafarian (lol), or Christian. The fact that we need to believe something is naive.

Mushroomhead – Save Us Lyrics 16 years ago
He can see the impending doom on humanity and it seems no one even cares.

Used to be all that I wanted
You to see, all that I needed you to be
Does anyone care?

I love this part, I grew up thinking that humanity was this amazing thing that was guided along by a god or some form of thing which made it "divine". When i grew up i quickly realized its the exact opposite, although we do have the potential to be good, we are what is guiding us "we are all one consciousness steering itself subjectively". Only a few (which im pretty sure is still a lot) people are able to comprehend us as we really are.

Are you pure enough to hear me out yet?
Are you sure enough that you're pure enough to comprehend?
Just live forgive and forget

This part sends chills down my spine. It's very powerful, although only a select number of people will be able to "comprehend" it.

All alone
I hear the whole world calling
Save us from ourselves
All alone I hear the angels scream my name

It's as if he sees humanity from another point of view and we are all screaming "save us". And the sad part is that we don't even know were saying it...

I think that this person is being misunderstood or they are misunderstanding everyone else [I can't figure out which one =( ]. they don't know why because they can't explain it themselves and they want help or at least an explanation of wtf is going on (i could go on to explain that but it could take awhile and im tired) Ultimately this person is just confused and doesn't know what to do (in my opinion obviously)

Ashes Divide – The Stone Lyrics 16 years ago
ok first off i was extremely high when i listened to this song and i feel i nearly over-evaluated everything there is (and i mean it too). I highly doubt this is actually what the song was written about. If this comment interests you please reply...i just want to know I'm not alone :P (if you dont get that then you obviously aren't where I'm at) If you don't like reading I'd suggest looking at another comment maybe lol
This is basically what I wrote in my notebook just phrased a little different. (minus the quotes)

"I've been pushing stones away
far from these shores
I pretend that it's all okay
On the brink of what can't be adored"

hes explaining how he has broken through his mind by "pushing stones away" (and notice he says pushing instead of moving so its more of an outward moving motion). He pretends that what he sees is okay and what he sees cannot be seen by most other people. What I think hes seeing is humanity, life, maybe everything.

We survived
well we can change...

We survived so far, and we can change our fate. let the thoughts fade just let them go, just swing on the spiral (life). We have the power to lead our species another direction. He notices that pretending is what most people do (whether they know it or not) because their minds can not see that they are doing it. Flowers (most people) never breaking through the stone (our mind)

I pretend and pray it all away
searching for a place to hide...

He tries to make this all go away and wishes he never broke out of this shell. He doesn't need to pretend his way back "down" to himself with memories that don't really exist because he truly liked it better when he was all caught up in life. He also feels fake. I know this feeling very well firsthand, because while i was listening to this i felt like i was in a video game, which in a weird sense seems very true.

there has to be more of you out there... lolz i probably sound like I'm losing my mind.
