what im pretty sure is true, is that all that happens is he finds out that ms. leading is a prostitute. "cause you cant be caught red handed if your not red handed" - you cant get caught if you just dont do it "but darling, i would never say those words to you" - he trusted her and felt he didnt need to speak about it. "i was pulling out my heart so i could pin it to my sleeve, on display for you to see im on display" - his heart = his love... pinning it to his sleeve, showing her his love and being vulnerable.. on display for you to see im on display means all of what he did was just an act to her. |

no, im pretty sure this song is merely about her life as a prostitute. battesimo del fuoco is the childs birth "to cast her back to hell again".. she can now continue to work the streets. i used to think that this was when the child found out that his mom was a prostitute, untill casey told me that he doesnt find that out untill the 2nd half of the 2nd album. im pretty sure this is just a discription and a hint towards us as the listeners that she is a prostitute... but is still hidden to her child. |

This song is almost narrated by an unknown. "a failed life exposed the man" his mother .. ms. terri, is a hooker, a failed life. in this, the flame seems more to be the streets, and then changes. because "who led her off into the flame, to cast her back to hell again" meaning she is proceeding to have to go back to the streets, ... prostitution then it continues to say "the break of dawn will wash away the sins thereof"... so dawn breaks and she's not prostituting.. obviously. and due to her workin the streets at night.. she sleeps during the day... and the boy is left to play with himself, no mother... no father.. alone is he. |

she starts reading a letter, moves on further throughout the letter, realizes whats happening, the tears signify the hero was crying as he was writting it. the rest is the hero's narration, guessing her reaction, and furthermore, convincing himself that he was right in his actions to leave Ms. Leading. "lets just say..." is a convincing tense... so he's seems skeptical, but sure at the same time. "we couldnt fake it, so why even try" further proving that he was convincing either himself or her. great song... great album... great story.. great play |
