Modest Mouse – Dead End Job At The Dead Letter Office Lyrics 13 years ago
the first line is "dead end job at the dead letter office" - they are releasing this track and that's official title of the song.

Modest Mouse – History Sticks to Your Feet Lyrics 14 years ago
the song is about how history repeats itself (snakes eating their tales makes a circle that keeps going around), how the same things happen over and over even if we fight against them (pushing boulders even though we want to stop and collect moss) but we cant get away from them (history sticking to your feet).

Modest Mouse – Guilty Cocker Spaniels Lyrics 15 years ago
at the very end of the song (last 3 seconds or so) you can hear two people say "that one seemed good" and "yeah that was pretty good." you'll have to turn the volume way up to hear it though

Modest Mouse – Satellite Skin Lyrics 15 years ago
the version brock sang on david letterman (march 18th) was slightly different (especially the ending) but the lyrics are more or less the same.
It took me a few listenings to realize what the satellite skin is. I was thinking satellite as in the spaceship kind of deal but it's supposed to mean the small pieces that orbit something. i think in this case the satellite skin is just the little pieces that are left floating around after he is broken.

Modest Mouse – Ocean Breathes Salty Lyrics 15 years ago
In an interview, one of the only times Mr. Brock talks about the meanings of his lyrics, they had been talking about his brother that tragically died in an accident (I think he was hiking or something) and Brock mentioned the line "maybe we’ll get lucky and we’ll both grow old
Well, I don’t know, I hope so" and basically out of everything he has ever written, he wants that line to be true. He was faced with many early deaths, his brother, a close friend to him (I believe a producer for one of his earliest albums). I think he Brock is afraid of death but knows that you can't stop it, just like the ocean. You have to accept it, breathe it in and carry it in, but hope it doesn't come too soon.

Modest Mouse – Secret Agent X-9 Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the second line is actually "an elegant gun" not every gun. Elegant seems to make a bit more sense plus it makes me think of Bond's p2k
