The Beatles – Maxwell's Silver Hammer Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is so funny because it's about a murderer, but the way it's written, and the way it's in a major key with all these funny bells and sounds in the background makes it almost a pun. A really dark and twisted meaning, but can be laughed off because of the way it's written and performed.

Simon and Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence Lyrics 16 years ago
I performed this song in high school, and before we took it on, our conductor made us actually sit down and write what we thought the meaning was. I had no idea, but I learned it's about the war. The Vietnam war, I'm guessing, because of the time period.

I agree- his unreleased music is such better. the guy is so talented! I met him twice and actually hung out with him the last time I met him, hes such a crazy ass! This song is so great because it's very rare for an artist to write about something like this --- he isnt writing about a relstionship or something, it's actually kind of philosophical, and sooo true when you hear it. He makes great analogies in the song...very, very good.

The All-American Rejects – Top Of The World Lyrics 16 years ago
I would be extremely surprised if this wasn't about Bush...I mean, I thought that even before I read everyone else's responses.

Is there anybody out there
that can see what a man can change?
It’s better that you don’t care
because he knows that he's in his state

Just obvious. Great song though...really good way to rebel. I love AAR.

The All-American Rejects – Can't Take It Lyrics 16 years ago
The strings in this piece are amazing, really pushing the song emotionally, without making it obnoxious.

In my opinion, the song is about a very unhealthy relationship -- one is giving all, and getting abused (mentally) while the other is the abuser....it's some kind of thing where the good times are so good it keeps him there, but when it's bad, he wants to go but can't just leave. He's had enough. He has worked and worked to make things better, and normal, but they aren't -- "I've waited long enough to make it". She thinks she is strong enough, and doesn't let him in -- he thinks she might as well just do it alone. It's basically about an non-mutual relationship where one person really takes advantage of the other.
