I'm surprised there aren't more comments on this song. It's one of my favorite off of this album. I think it's about how seemingly innocuous situations can become incredibly painful and tragic just because the nature of life is a constant struggle, so one person (or animal) inevitably takes advantage of the other for their own gain. The sweet melody is a good contrast to the dark lyrics as well. |

I think this song is about how teenagers build relationships based on illusion, infatuation and fantasy rather than on reality. The somebody "Somebody lurks in the shadows" line of the song refers to the threat of reality looming around the edges of the relationship, how it will inevitably intervene and break down the world they constructed for themselves. |

This is one of the best songs i have heard this year. The lyrics are pretty straightforward, but i think most of the meaning lies in the lush arrangement of sounds. It's about the disillusionment and disappointment that occurs after you realize a relationship is not what you originally thought it was.
More people need to know about this awesome band. |
