I am amused by the fact that you guys are probably confusing the hell out of the teenyboppers. The majority of them probably thought Britney wrote this song and it's a brand new hit. I can just see them sitting in front of their computers, staring in disbelief. *cackle*

I agree with Jenster's interpretation. I've recently been betrayed by my best friend, and when I first read the lyrics to this song, I was awed at how accurately it described my situation. Especially the end..."silent war." My mouth literally dropped open when I read/heard that part. A silent war is exactly what is going on between us; I just never was able to put it into those words until I read these lyrics. This is just one of many Incubus songs I listen to when I need comforting.
