i just finished watching brokeback mountain and realized how much this song ties in with jack's feelings (mainly just the second verse). he obviously loves ellis so much that hes willing to have him in half-measures but then 20yrs later, he wants more of him...tired of ellis' fears, he just wants to love him. I think both sort of compared their wives, girlfriends to the other and they cam eup short...their love for another was too strong There are many elements in this song that describes not only sexual relationships but...connections i guess between people. |

i agree completely with miss l. i was so excited when the spec edt came out. and fiona was perfect for that song sally's song is filled the longing and gut-wrenching feelings of unrequited love. but what i love most is that she doesnt have any false illusions, she knows theres a slim to none chance that he would ever love her i watched the spec feat on the movie and they actually seriously considered cutting out that whole scene with sally singing because it was thought to be so long. that blew me away. how could they even have thought to not allow sally to explain how shes feeling, shes a pivital character, is she not? |

what i love most about bright eyes is that you can connect to the lyrics, no matter what they actually might mean to the writer- they are written in a way so that you can derive a meaning which can define whatever emotions/ events YOU are dealing with. It may mean something different for everyone but all feel connected. and i think thats another common theme with connor, having a sense of connection it seems the more depressed i feel, the harder it is to put my feelings into words, but this song explains everything word for word. it scared the shit out of me when i first heard it. then tears came cause i knew i was not alone...at least one person out there understands...even if they havent gone through exactly the same things i have...the feelings/ emotions are there |

This song (like the majority of all bright eyes') just sends chills throughout my body on the creshendos (yeah never spelled that before) how after a while of just waiting for the other person to come around or trying to guess what they want, to always please them, there comes a time when you get fed up and want to get everything out in the open and clear with no misunderstanding of boths feelings. in this yes the singer still loves the other and accepts him/her- "And I know all about those things we cannot speak And just so you know, well they don't bother me So you don't have to be worried" but just cant sit around not knowing how s/he feels or wants |
