This is one of those songs that, when I heard it the first time, I grasped the meaning and, at least in my mind, there's not too much question. In my opinion, this is a person who is contemplating suicide, and definately not for the first time. In my mind's eye, I see a man looking at himself in the mirror with a gun in his hand, and he's talking to his reflection, convincing himself that whatever he's facing isn't enough to make himself give up. For him, it's a fight with himself every day to not end his own life, (hence the lines: "I live to die another day"). And while he may have convinced himself today to not do it, he knows that he'll be there again tomorrow doing the same thing. A second theory that, in all honesty, just came to me, is that perhaps it's an internal arguement, with one side urging him to kill himself, while the other is telling him to keep going. Most of the lines could be attributed to either side of that arguement. This is one of the few songs that I don't think has anything to do with a relationship or a girl. I think this is a completely internal struggle. |

I think we definately have yet another crappy relationship song from Breaking Benjamin. Maybe that's why I like them so much... I can relate to so many of their songs. On to my take on this song: For me, this song could be seen as a single arguement, where at the beginning, he is trying to appologize for whatever he did last time (been there) but in the girl's failure to forgive him, or general difficulty, he gets mad at her and gets mad at her again. I get the sense that, at least in my understanding, this is a couple that fights constantly. Perhaps she cheats on him, and he loves her too much to end it, thus causing their fights, and every time he says he's leaving, but continues to come home. (ya'know... this sounds awfully familiar... I've been in a situation almost exactly like this.) But anyway, that's how I see it, and I'm certainly not certain I'm right. That's whats so great about music: it can be different things for different people. |

| This is one of those songs that just, for me, is a mystery. I can't really picture BB doing a religious based song, but I could be wrong. It seems to me that a big majority of their songs tend to be about relationships (mostly bad ones; these guys aren't the band to listen to when you want to be cheered up) I'd say there's a fair shot that this song has something to do with that. Truly though, at least for me, this song is way out in left field as far as a concise meaning. | |

| This was my first favorite song from Phobia, though it's subsequently been replaced. Rather than trying to analyze each line, I'll just give my overall vibe I get from this song. When I hear this song, I imagine a drug addict snorting a line of cocaine in order to deal with the world around him. The reasons could vary from person to person, though to me (perhaps from having experienced the situation) there's evidence that its to cope with an unfaithful spouse. Awesome song, awesome band! | |
