This is a really good song. I've only heard a few from his new album so far, but of all of the ones I have heard, this one seems the most...personal. I'd love to knowo which songs he had the most influence in when they were written. It seems to me that he wrote the majority of this one because of the topic. I think this song references his brother's battle with cancer. He's telling his brother that even though his condition may be changing and he can be "ok" one day and "poor" the next, he will remain permanent and always be there for him. This is such a beautiful song...here's my interpretation of the lyrics: Is this the moment where I look you in the eye? - Could possibly be a reference to the thoug that it may be his brother's (Adam I think is his name) final moments Forgive my broken promise that you’ll never see me cry - Even though he promised he'd never cry, he'd always be strong, he can't help but cry now And everything, it will surely change even if I tell you I won’t go away today - No matter what he does, he can't stop his brother's cancer from progressing, even if he stays by his side Will you think that you’re all alone When no one’s there to hold your hand? - Self-explanatory, he fears his brother thinks he's all alone in his battle with cancer And all you know seems so far away and everything is temporary rest your head I’m permanent - His life before cancer may seem so far away because he's been battling for so long, but he should just rest because no matter what, David is permanent, he will always be there for him I know he’s living in hell every single day - He knows his brother has to deal with a living hell of pain every day And so I ask oh god is there some way for me to take his place - As most loved ones do when someone they love is dealing with a lot of pain, he pleads with God to let him take Adam's place And when they say it’s all touch and go I wish I could make it go away - When the doctors say it's all "touch and go" and they don't know what his condition will be like day to day, David wishes he could do something, anything, to just make it go away But still you say Will you think that you’re all alone when no one’s there to hold your hand? | Ah no one's commented. I'll be first. In a nutshell, this song is about how after Nikki died (and came back) he finally realized that he wanted to be clean. And he's asking for God's help and "Permission" to do so. | |

| Nikki doesn't get clean in Girl With Golden Eyes. That song's just saying that he realizes that he needs to get away from heroin before it kills him. Then this song comes on...it's about his near-death experience after over-dosing...and following it is Permission, where he finally tries and successfully gets clean. The song's in the right place. Read the book and you'll see. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with these lyrics. | |

This song's about how after Nikki got clean, he slipped and fell back into his addiction to heroin. (It makes sense if you've read The Heroin Diaries by him...it's a really great book.) Don't give up, it takes a while-Heroin is not something you can easily give up I have seen this look before-talking about the way he looked when he was abusing....it wasn't pretty And it's alright You're not alone If you don't love this anymore-Nikki always felt like he was alone, which is why he became an addict. He hated being addicted and didn't "love" heroin once he realized how bad he'd gotten I hear that you've slipped again I'm here 'cause I know you'll need a friend-After getting clean the first time, he became addicted once more. | Love the band's sound. Ville's lyrics just get better and better with every album. Although from what I hear, there's only like 5 seconds of the song played in the Transformers movie so that kinda sucks. But it's still good to hear them in an American film. | The song is definitely about Romeo and Juliet, Ville's confirmed it in some of his interviews. I love this song so dearly....but then again, I love ALL of HIM's songs. ^_^ Oh, and as for all the HIM haters that post on this song or any HIM song for that matter, quite frankly, no one gives a damn about you saying you hate HIM and they're gay, etc...if you don't like them, stop posting on their lyrics and leave space for their FANS. | I agree with IGaveEmHell, "I'm to fucked up to come home, I swear this heart was made of stone." is my favorite line too. The first time I ever saw them was on the Taste of Chaos tour this year and I fell in love with them! I'm pretty sure I know all the songs now, even though I just saw them 3 months ago. They're a great band with a unique sound. And I'm glad that they don't make screaming in songs their priority, but instead have lyrical, melodic sounds...most of the time. Lol. I love Aiden so much. They're an awesome band! | |
