Finger Eleven – Drag You Down Lyrics 16 years ago
You do know that the lyrics are incorrect, right?

The second verse is:
They're fighting, they're growing
They're fighting, and THEY'RE growing
I'm biting, I'm teething
I'm biting, THEY'RE bleeding.

Just thought you should know.

I like this song, because I listen to music for stress relief and I feel all my mucsels relax to this song.

There is a deeper meaning to the Biting parts..... However in modern day America, most people don't recognize the ability of symbolism, and therefore only look at the base line of what a song says.

After all, wasn't this site created in order to produce a way to present everyone's opinion on the meaning of the song?

One Interpretation of this song could say that the guy has a "virus" that would wipe out the world, and is therefore trying to get someone to put him out.

Another interpretation can be seen as zombies, or vampires, like salsa is suggesting with her influenced movie watching.

Or they could be talking about how modern media allows for everyone to become infected and how the artist has fallen into the trap that the media forms for the audience. Then talks about how they are suffering the consequenses, and converting everyone else into the form the media wants. Therefore they want a person to be able to pull above them and be able to think for themselves and not how the media wants them to think.

FYI: I am a fan of Finger Eleven as well. If it seems like I am detached as I wrote this, it because I don't let favoritism get in the way of my interpretations. Granted, some songs become my favorite songs because of how I interpret them.

Smile Empty Soul – This Is War Lyrics 17 years ago
For me, in a clearly musical stand point, I fully understand the difficulty of being able to pull off somthing sounding this in this day and age is extremely difficult. Not to mention I understand many of the technical difficulties, as I play some of the intruments that were used in this song. Not to mention the phrasing and the quality add to the symbolism. The acoustic gfuitar gives the kind of "whimsical, sit-around-the-campfire-and-tell-stories" motivating. Then the string quartet gives that phrasing to the persons mood are the time in the song.

I know there are many "anti-war" as well as "pro-war" implications that people tend to pick up on, but there are other implications that could be picked from this song.

If you think about, this could also refer to American society as there other songs do; and I don't mean only military people. In a way this song is also representing a person trying to there way to the top of the "economical" food chain. This can be done by using a metaphorical sense of "I'll blow your fucking head off" instead of using the classic "I'll spread so much information about you I'll make sure you won't ever be in my way again..." Then the whole part of "For my country" could be the person's doing stuff for their own personal dreams and ideals, which most people will admit is more important than their country. But in the end, they wind up failing. Don't know why, maybe another person who is following the whole, "This is War..." path.

This is just some of my opinions, but I am taught to see things from multiple angles due to some of my classes (Stupid English Teacher). Even then I actually feel like this is one of there least liberal songs in all honesty....

...Anyways... later.
