The Notorious B.I.G. – Warning Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this whole cd is GOLD |
The Beatles – Fixing a Hole Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i think this song is about making choices for yourself by yourself. there is no 1 ultimate truth for everyone we're all unique |
Rush – 2112 Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i see a ton a parralells between 2112 and Ayn Rands "Anthem". Like when Prometheus takes his light to the elders and they persecute him for working alone and destroy it. |
Bright Eyes – Crazy as a Loon (John Prine cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
John Prine's traditional music played by Bright Eyes. magic. |
Bright Eyes – Padraic My Prince Lyrics | 17 years ago |
im thinking this song is just an allegory for his own lost innocence. "You cried but no one came And the water filled your tiny lungs" -he started acting because he wanted someone to save him but no one ever did. (P.s.- not all Bright Eyes songs are 100% litteral) *feedback please* |
Bright Eyes – Cartoon Blues Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song would go great on Casadagga before Cleanse Song. this is Conor seeing the hole he had dug himself into with his drug use. Its not a fun subject but this is just one more example of how his song writing has matured a whole lot. Four Winds EP and Casadagga are soaked with reminders like this that the sad eyed kid with the acoustic guitar has grown. |
Bright Eyes – Stray Dog Freedom Lyrics | 17 years ago |
-the 1st whole verse is pretty self explanatory i dont think anyone needs to translate what it means. "It's same old shit So it's how you deal with it It's the glove that fits That you wear" -the narrator thinking about how he is unhappy about the routine of his life "So when the wind blows strong I put a few more layers on And I tell myself I don't care" -He is tired of having to constantly protect himself (from relationships, jobs, etc.) and he has to convince himself it doesnt bother him when it really does. "I might make a phone call To a better man To ask the questions that I have, have, have Like how do I get started And where's it going to end? Why should I treat a traitor like a friend?" -He is going to look for advice on how to live a happier life |
Bright Eyes – Stray Dog Freedom Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love this song. it reminds me of this cat that always follows me and my friends around and chills with us. He always shows up when we're playing music in my friends back yard and he, oddly, loves getting high( he always shows up within 1 minute of us sparking a doobie ). We always bring him food but when ever we try to bring him inside he just leaves. i get the sense that he was a beatnik traveller like Jack Kerouac in a past life. he's been the inpiration of about 6 songs i have written too. I would give anything to live like the "Stray Dog" |
Bright Eyes – Smoke Without Fire Lyrics | 17 years ago |
^^^^^^^^^^ He had been decieving himself that true love DOES NOT exist and he went to a friend for help. correction from my post a few seconds ago (im on 40mg of Adderall XR so im being abnormally tediouse today) |
Bright Eyes – Smoke Without Fire Lyrics | 17 years ago |
im not expert but i think this song is talking about having just physical relationships or "friends with benefits" the smoke is supposed to be the product of the fire. Like love making is supposed to be a product of love. "Somewhere along the way Well, I was led astray By a wolf in no one's clothing It was a brilliant disguise " He is talking about how he let his mistress leed him into believing there was more to the relationship then there really was. "And I forgot that life existed I thought it was just some kind of game That's what brings me to your doorstep Though I dont know why I came today" He had been decieving himself that true love does exist and he went to a friend for help. "Standing still in the dust Giving up on the rain As with smoke without fire I've already laid in the flames" He is still in the "dust" of his relationship and he realizes that he has had unconditional love the whole time and was being blinded by his FWB. "Brother, be afraid of the flames " he is saying to not fear true love. To sum things up... 1. The Smoke is the sex, the fire is the love 2. Smoke w/o fire makes no sense 3. The only way things can make sense is if there is fire (LOVE) first and it brings the smoke (SEX) next. 4. Dont Fear Real Love |
Bright Eyes – Four Winds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"And it's the Psalm of man Slouching towards Bethlehem" i think thats how its supposed to be, PSALM not SUM, but i dont have my copy of the lyrics book with me. |
Bright Eyes – Four Winds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
And it's the SUM of man Slouching towards Bethlehem A heart just can't contain all of that empty space It breaks, it breaks, it breaks |
Cream – Strange Brew Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love Cream and this shows that they were great even before Disreali Gears |
Led Zeppelin – Achilles Last Stand Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this is the best example of mysticism in a Zep song. "Last Stand" completly blows "Stairway" out of the water. this is probably the song that can sum up what Zep was all about. soft quiet intro. gut busting drums. mystical lyrics. Face melting guitar solo's. and ofcourse Plants signature wailing. |
Tool – Rosetta Stoned Lyrics | 17 years ago |
dmt. amazing. |
Bright Eyes – Down in a Rabbit Hole Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Because we paint the foil with the flame Smear the soda, taste butane For every fear that can't be named To calm you down" this is a great line showing the desparation of someone hooked on drugs. stick to the ganja people. |
Elliott Smith – Alameda Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is about people who parade around wanting everyone to feel sorry for them when they are the ones making themselves feel like shit. its about drama queens. |
Lil Wyte – Acid Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i dont think Lil Wyte is the kind of person that would be good for doing acid. |
Cursive – The Martyr Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Sweet Baby, don't cry Your tears are only alibis To prove you still feel You only feel sorry for yourself Well, get on that cross That's all you're good for" a timeless lyrics by one of our few timeless bands |
Bright Eyes – Don't Know When but a Day Is Gonna Come Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yeah Omaha is a ULTRA religous city. I see billboards for converting homosexuals there every day. its kind of sad for all of the ignorance around there. |
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Voodoo Child (Slight Return) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
its spelled "chile" to represent how someone from the sound might say child. Voodoo having roots in New Orleans, it just seems right to pronounce(and spell) it how a person with a heavy southern accent might say it. |
Our Lady Peace – Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
is Our Lady Peace a christian band? |
Bright Eyes – Four Winds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Four Winds" is a biblical reference. Apparently when the world ends God sends the "Four Winds" to clean up the whole mess, or somthing like that. It has to do with the apacolypse. There are so many references to the bible in this song, its crazy. |
Pink Floyd – You Gotta Be Crazy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i have a bootlegged version of this being performed on Floyds WYWH tour and its just a roughdraft of Dogs. Goodthing Waters changed the lyrics around a little bit |
Pink Floyd – Dogs Lyrics | 17 years ago |
this song is about how in todays world you have to be a scheeming back-stabber to have a significant amount of success. great theme. Animals is the favorite album of real Pink Floyd fans |
