My favorite eagles song. To me it refers to the regrets of living hard and seeing nothing that is lasting. Looking back you can see clearly what has passed you by as far as opportunities go. So when it comes time to find a new path you've got to pursue it the same passion as the frivilous stuff. It's a wake up call to realize whats important and do something about it |

Definitely improved from original. Worthy tribute to a classic. It's a song you can't listen to without being mellowed out. Relaxing in every way. Awesome solo makes me sick I can't play a guitar. Couldn't believe it was pantera when I first heard it. Wish they had done more mellow stuff. Wish i still smoked |

No doubt that's the real motivation. Anyway one of the greatest songs of the 80's. takes me back to my childhood memories of that particular summer. One of my greatest regrets in life is to never have made it to see Ray perform before he died. I'm so thankful they made the movie. He was an exceptionally talented man. An artist in its purest form. Regardless of the historical aspects it was ordained of God for this to be Ray's song. Songs like this make me appreciate the beauty that music sometimes is. Life should have a sountrack and this is one song high on my list. |

There is no doubt that this is high on the list of the greatest songs ever. if you don't agree then you have no appreciation for someone being a true genius of a musical artist. It's an extremely emotionally charged song with all the elements coming together perfectly. I can relate to it in many aspects when it comes to relationships that you wanted desperately to be under different circumstances. It's also like a time machine that takes me back instantly to the period in my life when I would play it over and over like an addict. Prince was way misunderstood by too many and definitely under appreciated. Christie Alley said it was her favorite love making song and I have to admit that I have used it as a soundtrack for that same purpose. Superbowl performance was perfect with it actually raining. |

Being deployed I missed my daughters birth, When I returned I borrowed a buddy's ride to get home and see my neborn child. He had only one cassette which I listened to over and over for the ten hour drive. This song takes me back to that place and time whenever I hear it and it brings me to tears. I don't have the relationship with my daughter that I wish I did. I never knew the deep meaning behind the lyrics until now, and it make it that much more moving to find that it refers to a broken relationship between a father and daughter. I wonder sometimes if songwriters consider the powerful impact songs like this have and the impression they leave on our memories. |
