Tegan and Sara – Clever Meals Lyrics

As far as I know, neither of them are currently vegetarians. You do not have to be to promote the well being of animals: I eat meat, and I protest against fur and animal cruelty, etc.
I don't think the "clever meals" is meant to be literal, anyways.... |

Chantal Kreviazuk – Spoke in Tongues Lyrics

This song just confuses me so much; does anyone have any idea what it's about? I have always thought "speaking in tongues" to mean one of two things: speaking of nonsense (similar to the likes of gibberish) or speaking in the "heavenly" language which is supposedly thought to be the language of god. Still, I can't really fit either into the song perfectly.... |

Shawn Colvin – Sunny Came Home Lyrics

I have known this song since I was a very little girl, and also loved it. It still remains one of the most haunting songs I have ever heard, and is incredibly precious to me.
Anyways, on to the meaning. I actually hardly find anything about this song metaphoric, and I am not one to take many songs literal. I love to search for deeper meanings, but in this case, I feel the deep meaning that everyone wants to find is right there on the surface.
Of course, I know absolutely nothing about Shawn Colvin (besides the fact that she's an amazing artist!), so I do not know what this song was written about from her perspective, but this song however does hold idea of arson for me. I have not yet to decide whether she is exactly burning others or, herself...and I have spent years wondering. I think it is quite obvious Sunny is dealing with some kind of misery; but we do not have to name that misery, pain is pain....
Basically, to me, this meaning is quite simple. Sunny= depressed + filled with a long term build up of angst and she has finally found a way to release that...in the form of these flames of fire. |

Chantal Kreviazuk – Wayne Lyrics

LOVE this song. But never thought of it as a "wanting to be with" Wayne, for some reason, the "Wayne" for me has always been dead. "Wayne, wait for me, 'cause I'll be there in a couple of years" just made sense to me. |

Chantal Kreviazuk – Grow Up So Fast Lyrics
| 17 years ago

I think this one is pretty self explanatory, but I think that it's about a girl's mother leaving her when she was very young. This caused her to have more worries than someone that is her age (hence the "I just want to stay here and laugh"). Very good song, one of my favourites on the album. |
