Matthew Good – It's Been A While Since I Was Your Man Lyrics 16 years ago
i get the idea this song is about the death of a girlfriend.
lines like "way up in that sky, i look up and i wonder if that's you passing by" gives off the impression that he senses her soul/spirit.
a lot of the song is, indeed, reminsicing on the relationship that has obviously left a hole in his life.
but then he says "folks, they used to smile, now they just think that they should". this could imply, and to me it makes more sense than just a breakup, that they feel so sorry for him that they basically force smiles as they walk down the street.
my idea, anyway.
a LOVELY song off white light.

amazing song.
i saw him play this live in vancouver bc, second row.
he introduced it in the most heartbreaking way possible.
"it's just one of those songs... that you wish you never had to write"

no one has commented on this one?
probably my favourite off hospital music.
i can't really think of what it could be about though?

Ryan Adams – Political Scientist Lyrics 17 years ago
does anyone know the story behind why he writes a song on the white stripes?
cause this song seems to be a more negative feel towards them.. "what's red and white and nearly over?"
but then in one of his album covers he writes "meg white you saved rock and roll" in his thank you section.
any takers?
