I never paid much attention to this song. I just figured it was repetence and it had a cool melody. After I broke up with my girlfriend and looked back to see how I ruined something so awesome this song made so much more sense.

It's not a tribute to Jawbreaker, it's about a lost friend. Joey sings about this guy in almost every album.

The guy that he wrote this song about was Joey's best friend. He was the original singer in the band back when they pretty much only played Metal. He ran off with Joey's girlfriend (Her name's Emily and she shows up in some other songs as well) So their friendship disolved, the guys in the band sided with Joey and he became the singer. Joey writes about this situation often. PS the first time I heard this song was on the Mac Dawg Snowboard Video Technical Difficulties!

There is a lot of irony in this song, and I don't believe every line is straight forward. One thing that does seem pretty clear is that the situation is pretty despairing.
