This song is about a guy who is in love with a girl. He'd give up anything to be with her. She makes him happy and he doesn't want the moment to end. He just wants to be caught up in the moment. Like anything else, nothing lasts forever. She has to go somewhere maybe far away, I don't think it's talking about death. He doesn't want the world to see him like this, upset, because they wouldn't get it. Even though he's broken hearted, he want's her to rememeber him and to know that she meant something to him. He can't help but feel upset that they aren't together anymore. It feels surreal to him. This song is incredible. I used to not be able to listen to it all the way through because it reminded me of someone I loved. But, as they say, time heals all wounds..(sigh) |

I can relate to this song 1 BILLION percent. I liked this guy this past summer and he said he just wanted to be friends. From the day I told him I liked him, we hung out all the time and it was so hard on me to understand how he said he didnt have feelings for me. Needless to say I loved him, dammit, I loved him and I still do. | To me, this song is about a girl who meets a guy who is a couple of years older than her. They spend a lot of time together that summer. She experiences a whole new world with him. They fall in love. She is reminiscing about her relationship with him. Now she's looking back at it all. She was so terrified for the day he had to leave for college because she felt that they would lose touch and eventually that's what happend. When she goes back to her grandpa's farm, she remembers him and the memories are bittersweet because he and her first love are no longer in contact and he is just a part of her past. The "innocence" is most likely her virginity. She wonders if it's that or the actual guy that she misses. This song is beautiful and speaks personally to me. | |

I see a different take on this song. Maybe it's because it reminds me of something I went through. It could be about a girl who has a guy friend who may be more but he doesnt put her first and he just confuses her. She just wants to know where she stands . I've put my theories to the test You know I've tried to do my best But maybe we weren't meant to strike gold Sometimes things that you ignore Are all the things I'm looking for Will I learn to let go Give into love and listen to my soul In those lines, she has tried to psychoanalyze everything but then thinks that maybe they weren't meant to be more than friends after all. Maybe the people she has been ignoring are the people that deserve a chance. Letting go of him just isn't working for her. He's her biggest unanswered question. |
