i think that this song is less about cancer aswell infact, i think this girl has been forced to grow up prematurely 'adolescence torn' by 'lovers who have tainted' her because of the abuse suggested by other people here. yet i think this abuse could have been like child prostitution/sex trafficking, because the lovers are plural referred to as 'they' also they 'pulled her into the night' which for me insinuated and underworld that she was dragged into it unwillingly. 'night' also is reflective of the crimes that are easier committed in the night simply due to obscured sight. um, i think that they way she is 'weathered and worn' suggests that perhaps she is not in hospital because she has a specific disease, but that local authorities discovered her it feels as if she is a victim who 'bent your [her] shoulders To hold the weight of the world' because she felt as if she had no one to talk to, or so share the horrors of her experiences with, hence her arrival in hospital could be due to emotional trauma aswell as physical trauma. i think the narrator is not a close friend, but someone who cares who urges her to run 'through the garden gates' this is reminiscent of the garden of eden picture created in many of the hush sounds lyrics, especially Wine Red. the narrator wants her to go to the 'shelter of magnolias', as elmochild said stand for perserverence and nobility, which could suggest that the narrator wants this girl to experience how a real support system of people who care (parents, friends, nurses etc) could save her physically and emotionally, but she should run because 'there's not much time' i'm not sure what the reason is for the girls dissension into that life but it could be (okay this is a HUGE wild guess) but simply because she got in with the wrong crowd as her 'words like smoke' made the narrator 'sick' but kept her 'warm', which could mirror how her destructive group of friends, made her take a wrong turn, yet she loved the stability of having friends and bieng cared for etc (even though as we see it has been detrimental), that she continued to stay with them. |

The Holloways – Most Lonely Face Lyrics | 16 years ago |
how come this has no comments? this is such a powerful song okay well i think its about homeless girl who was given empty promises by the wrong crowd at a young age so she left home and realised that things wernt all like they were cracked up to be "and she said what became of my promised fame all i got was shame" she could only find shelter with the other homeless people in the streets of london "cardboard boxes for pillows" "the streetside is my home" yet she got into prostitution, for money, but emotionally she was unfulfilled "i'm held by men at night but still i'm cold" "she said all she'd ever been was a whore and a slave" she knew there were other people like her, but she could talk to anyone "i'm so lonely but you know i'm not alone" he suggests help for her, to make her life better but we see shes given up all types of hope, and she went into self distruction "and she didn't know if she had any soul left to save" "well i tried to hold on but my grip it just was not that strong i can still see her eyes as she fell and she fell for so long" "i cried for the cutey of kings cross the day she derailed" - the last part i think isnt about her, but about all homeless young people whove thrown their lives away ignorantly - the holloways are trying to speak out to people to help the "helpless/homeless/poor" because theyre problems will be bigger than any of our materialized ones this beatifully links with the first verse "i'll bore you with details and open your mind" amazingly written |

Shiny Toy Guns – When They Came For Us Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think it's about the war aswell but when they came to the beach and took the children, the childrena re actually adults with innocent minds if we're thinking this beach maybe desert islandish, so the outside world has imposed its evil ways on it i think the "shiny toy guns" (toy being the key word) are like the problems that the people on the beach had - no very serious or grave, nearly like TOYS compared to the REAL GUNS used in wars and the huge problems people involved in wars are on that part about the mother telling her kids their dad is "watching from far away" is obviously that the dad is dead, becuasein the war, generally men went out to fight - and sadly their dad was a casualty |
Amy Winehouse – October Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
its obviously about her bird that maybe always sang on her window ledge flying away buit i think its also about amy herself spreading her winds and moving to somewhere better for herself. :) |
Shiny Toy Guns – Weather Girl Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think its partly about relationships but i also think that he likes this girl (romantically) but he still admires her determination to do stuff beyond human conception but then i also think that something bad happens to her like maybe she builds her dreams and when she's nearly there, something happens, bringing the line "Weather girl, where's your forecast?" into it about how they missed her or how invincible she used to be but work and the general stress of life is eating her and she's not the once youthful girl and she may be fading not sure but there yu go! |
