The Wrens – Boys You Won't Lyrics 17 years ago
Consdidering that this song is the evolution of a good, snarky breakup song (Miss Me) I doubt it's self-referential, at least not regarding artistic integrity. Same melody, similar in many respects, but where Miss Me was defiant as all hell, this one comes off as whiny.

The Wrens – Miss Me Lyrics 17 years ago
This WAS the first Wrens song I ever heard. I also managed to get what I now gather was a pre-release version of Meadowlands. Well, I finally heard the full release version of Meadowlands, and all of a sudden I'm kinda meh on the Wrens. They've pussified all their good stuff. They cut the balls off Miss Me and turned it into a pretty song. They added ghey harmonies to This Boy is Exhausted (one of the best tracks about being on tour I'd heard), Everyone Choose Sides, and Ex-Girl collection. Only a few songs remain unaltered.

Meh. They're still an okay band, and it's their music to do with as they see fit. But having heard the before and the after, I'm gonna stick with the before. Thankfully, Seacaucus is about to get re-released by their old label. I'll get to hear more from the Wrens I liked.
