Ray LaMontagne – Meg White Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i wonder what ray's wife thinks about this song? i can't imagine he wrote it seriously.... |
Thrice – Backdraft Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i had the idea that the chorus is the voice of temptation/the accursed/satan. he is waiting in a room starving, temptation comes to him to test him but it doesn't matter, the world can burn because he is true to his saviour |
Thrice – The Whaler Lyrics | 15 years ago |
song rings true with my father. such a sad song! but amazingly beautiful. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Lightness Lyrics | 15 years ago |
lightness meaning void of any ties & relationships (as in the book) she is wanting lightness by denying her love for him. he knows she has feelings but she won't let herself go. her instincts are to think of being light but really she knows she should want him/love. the great thing is that ivory lines = bra straps or ribs both kind of mean the same thing, she will give in to him. i dont think he is simply lusting after her, i think he's infatuated with her. he can't stop taking glances and is trying to build a bigger picture of how good she looks (patterns in static, can't see a lot but if you keep trying it will make sense) just my 2p. brilliant song and so true to life! |
Thrice – Daedalus Lyrics | 15 years ago |
such a sad song. i love firewingpegasus' view. Daedalus was only doing what he thought was best for Icarus, but his ambition clouded his judgement and stopped him realising Icarus wouldn't pay attention. The end of the song brings tears to my eyes. It is so hard to go on when the best thing in your life has gone, even more so when it's the consequence of your actions. I think everybody has been in the situation where there isn't an answer to the question, Why? Why me? The saddest thing is that Daedalus will never leave that "prison", hes hung up his wings. given up hope, faith, ambition. |
mewithoutYou – Messes of Men Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i agree. i do not exist only god exists. |
mewithoutYou – Messes of Men Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i like the idea that its is about a wife, but isn't aaron single? (not that it would matter, i know) i always figured 'you' refered to god, he is all knowing and saw aaron give in to temptation. the last line is so perfect. god is great, so beautiful, theres nothing better in life. |
mewithoutYou – C-Minor Lyrics | 17 years ago |

mewithoutYou – The Dryness and the Rain Lyrics | 17 years ago |

i think you misread the question. |
mewithoutYou – Messes of Men Lyrics | 17 years ago |
what does mildew have to do with spirits? imo. seeing as the whole song seems to be about his lust/escaping sin (lusters are messes of men?) it would make sense that he has had a taste of hell and wont ever go back, oh my god! and hes watching every preconception he had disappear. or something like that :p |
mewithoutYou – O, Porcupine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i never get figs from a thorny branch? i never picked a grain from off a bramble bush and i pass by almost 6 years now, and you know you haven't once looked at me with kindness in your eye and you say 'jesus is a brother of mine' homeward sister and i darkness and light shines, so everyone sings but my life is held down like god you know i've been mistaken while missing that point and that light, is god/gone? it gets really hard after the 'jesus is a brother of mine' part. doubt much after that is right. |
mewithoutYou – C-Minor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
yea i thought it was dry wood but figured it was my ears being silly. like 'our house, wrapped in disrepairs' |
The Smiths – Well I Wonder Lyrics | 17 years ago |
