The Animals – House Of The Rising Sun Lyrics 17 years ago
This great song - has no intentions to be religious. The original writer clearly wrote it about regret. A lesson to be learnt.
But there's another interpretation i forsee - The animals never went to new orleans b4 they re-wrote the song. I imagine, in Wallsend he herd the track but interpreted it as a PUB in Wallsend called House Of The Rising Sun. And re-wrote the lyrics to fit. Hence why some verses from the original are missing - to help aid the interpretation in the stated direction.
Basically, i think he/they changed the lyrics to make it more personal to them - although in the process, making the actual meaning vague/ subtle. Hence why some people think it may be religious, or about slavery. Whereas if you herd the actual lyrics, you would never think it.

Richmond Fontaine – Northline Lyrics 17 years ago
"Boyfriend's Belif" not belive
"Asleep some where in the back of a Montey Carlo" Which is some movie director i think.

I think this one is about a girl he knows on junk or some other drug I dont know. Which had started from her boyfriend. Even though he used to sleep with her, they were still friends - so they hung out and watched movies. The writer thinks perhaps, she still likes him - and that the boyfriend only made matters worse for her.
He has nearly, or has, lost touch of her.
Northline seems like a place or the movie theatre.

Its such a good song - I love the imagery.
In a whole, the song is about, "a friend he couldn't help"?

Nirvana – Tourette's Lyrics 17 years ago
What the fuck? why u guys talking to much about tourettes?! He's going to mean the shit that we all dont mean to say - but we do coz we cant control ourselves not to.
The song, im sure is about him being angry at Cortney or himself again. With "hey" hes obviously trying to get someones attention - and accusing someone of having a cold and mean heart.
But with him saying "we all want somehting fair, it sounds like hes arguing for equality.
And mayday? maypole? girls dancing round the maypole? I dont even know what that day is about - anyone know?

Nirvana – They Hung Him on a Cross (Demo) Lyrics 17 years ago
I think that the song is about jesus, but from the point of view of judus.
When Judus supposidly (im not religious) commited suicide after his regret (or devil shit).
I think Kurt was trying to relate to him using his apt empathy.

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 17 years ago
After looking at the diffrent comments, I see no reasonable explanation or quote to why the song was written (or at least the writers interpretation). Personally, if Mr Page intended the song to be read, it should not need the context to explain the meaning. The possability that he has found other ways of communicating is reasonable with teh quote "If you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last". But it says nothing of the sort that you must play it backwards. And playing the song backwards does sound like, Satan stuff - but it also says alot of garbage! Myself, i only analysis the lyrics, and ignore any quotes from artists. Honestly, i look at the artical - not the people behind the genius.
My interpretation is based around, as i said, the lyrics only. I belive that the song has a resonable debate about "settling down". The stairway to heaven being a metaphore for moving up in the world - going through life ect. (im trying to keep this comment short!!) But i dont belive mr page did settle down, because he is not with the lady in the end. But, in hope, he is told that "every thing will turn to gold".
"when all are one and one is all"
I belive this to mean that he would understand everything
"to be a rock, and not to roll" Means to end the rock n' roll life style.
Cheers for reading ~Grant
