| the first thing i thought of when i heard this song was The Great Gatsby. I agree with Hybrination. The billboard reference with the spectacles, and also the valley of ashes in the book represents the waste or essentially the downfall, poor of society. these people are stuck in this valley, they dont have the economic and social means to move up in society. when a higher class woman runs over another from the valley of ashes she gets away with klling the body because she's rich. Does anybody know how a body could get away? the song may not specifically be about the book, however there seem to be many references. | |

This is what i think the song is about, when looking at it with a literal point of view: Imagine being sent to war on a ship to Iraq, or wherever. "this is ship is taking me far away..." , away from home where people care if you live or die. when looking up at the stars you are reminded of the love you have for someone. this starlight is what you're after, this love is whats keeping you going. you just want to hold that someone in your arms. you dont know whether its worth holding on to this love, because of the black holes and revelations. basically you know that you are going to die, so is it worth holding on. when he talks about our hope and expectations, black holes and revelations, i think he means that what they were told to expect in this war, turned out to be lies and a trap, there is no escaping a black hole, there is no escaping death. |

| well so far i know that this song is hella good, and that Sevens is a card game, so maybe the cards are the venom, and death is the result. The part where it says "that uniform it wears you when the ultimatum pleads" may be about a priest, or officer of some sort with authority that feels burdened and fearful by what he is or disguises himself to be when god or whoever he answers to sets an ultimatum.
