Big D and the Kids Table – Down Around Here Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm thinking it's
"Humanity we've theorized"
I could be wrong, but that's what it sounds like to me. =]

I wonder if people even realize how many woman actually rape.

And, you're completely wrong, woman CAN be sexist. Anyone can be sexist, anyone can be racist, anyone can be as ignorant as they want.

Casey Jones – Know This X Lyrics 15 years ago
I have to disagree with everyone, I really don't think this is elitism. They aren't saying, 'you drink/smoke/sex it up, so you're a bad person.' They're saying it's a bad thing to call yourself straight edge and then suddenly you've broken it? It's nice to try it, sure, but if you're just testing it out...don't call yourself straight edge. Where as the jerks who get angry or beat on people for smoking around them, give a bad name. So do the people who decide to break it almost instantly or even down the road. It makes it seem like EVERYONE in the group is just doing it for cool points or to seem 'different.
I understand if this isn't the choice you want to make, but if you honestly

And to Enthused_punk and anyone else having that problem, even if that comment is two years old, you might have deeper issues that you NEED to address. The alcohol could have been covering some sort of depression or mental disorder. You need to talk with someone who can help you, you shouldn't feel you need a substance to make yourself happy or feel better. That's dependence and it'll just ruin your life. Get some help, I'm sure there's a logical reason for why you're feeling that way. : ]

I honestly have to say, I used to feel incredibly depressed or awkward before I found out about the straight edge movement. It has just really helped me out, made me feel better about my choices. I've grown since I came into the scene, but I still believe that if you call yourself straight edge, you should never touch alcohol, drugs or smoke ANYTHING, as well as keep you little lower area parts to yourself until you're in love (Or, in my case, never. Asexual ftw!). It's how I view it and a few people I know view it, but to each their own.

I just wish there wasn't so much drama in the scene. I think the basic thing of the 'movement' or whatever you care to call it, is that you shouldn't do things that can control your mind or ruin your body.

BUT! AS I WAS SAYING ABOUT THE SONG (sorry I got off track. Dx ), I don't think it's say 'You're a horrible person for not being edge!' I think it's simply showing their distaste for people who come into the scene, pretend to be dedicated and then just as easily, they decide to switch and start doing everything they swore off. I don't think that's elitist, I think it's just showing a growing frustration.

Casey Jones – If You're Smoking In Here, You Better Be On Fire Lyrics 16 years ago
I love this song! Even if I weren't straight edge, I still have asthma and it ticks me off when people blatantly blow smoke around me or in my face, even when they see the straight edge shirt (though most of the time, it's what causes them to really try and do that, jerks.) or the inhaler. Which makes me wonder why straight edge gets a bad reputation, but smokers or pot smokers get sympathy?
I'm glad they're banning smoking in public places, makes it easier for me to breathe.

Minor Threat – Straight Edge Lyrics 16 years ago
The thing behind straight edge is keeping your body and mind clean, when you have random sex you're putting your body and mind in danger. Even with a condom you're chancing your health.

iceicebaby you DO realize what an apology is, right? I didn't even see one 'I'm sorry' in AARgal's post. She pretty much just accused the other person and insulted them.

P.s. Next time you decide to call someone a big word, learn to spell it *hypocrite

Poe – Not A Virgin Lyrics 17 years ago
Ha, this song is pretty funny. But it also made me lose respect for her, it's no different than pop music about sex and all that useless crap. Pretty pathetic and sad.

Mindless Self Indulgence – Shut Me Up Lyrics 17 years ago
I, myself, doubt this song has much sexual meaning. More or less it's about censorship and the video even reinforced that. With the boy going crazy and the beginning, they're playing on what most 'logical' people think. That if you listen to rock music, you will go crazy and hurt/kill others. Isn't that what has happened to Marilyn Manson and Judas Priest? Blamed for things other kids did, just because of their music. In a way, I think that's what they mean by this whole thing. They're being censored and I think it probably pissed the band off, how would you feel if people tried to change something you put all your time in? Tried to change you into another clone. I don't see where a sexual innuendo would come into play, maybe the whip? But other than that, it seems like he's challenging the industry to change the band and the music.

NOFX – Straight Edge (Minor Threat cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
To the kids dissing Straight Edge and what-not. You do realize drugs/alcohol ruined most bands, right? I'm not preaching (Don't get started on that) but what ever happened 'To each his own'. If someone wants to call themselves sXe let them, it doesn't affect you until they say/do something to you.

Minor Threat – Straight Edge Lyrics 18 years ago
I've been...I guess you could say 'Straight Edge' for about 3 years now. I started the whole drugs and alcohol thing at about 10 (Yes young age, my reasons will not be shared) but I came across a sXe article in a magazine when I was in 7th grade and my drug usage was at a high. I read through the article and it just made me want to stop. Just reading that made everything click, it was so hard to stop, but I did and now that I've gone 3 years without that stuff. Everything for me is better, I don't forced people to become sXe, I have talked to a few friends that I care for dearly about it because they were throwing their lives away. But other than that, do what you wish, just not around me.

I do know a few sXe kids that don't hurt others, don't lecture and really just mind their own business. It isn't a label for those few I know, it doesn't instantly make them friends. It is just something they like to use, I admit I myself do own a sXe shirt and use the X's. I do wear it proudly, I might add. It makes me feel better about my past actions and it has gotten other kids younger than me curious in such a thing and also the X's are worn at shows, I have gotten called names for being sXe and I find that stupid and wasteful. I know people will say 'You're only 15, live it up!' but for me having a clear head IS living it up. My friends who do drink/have sex/and other things have told me flat out, they wish they could be like me. They wish they could have fun without having to shoot up. I don't lecture them, I try to help. But if they change their mind, I respect that. It's not my place to choose what they do. But this is rather ridiculous, this fighting over something such as sXe.

If you don't like it, fine, ignore it. It's no reason to bash kids who fallow it, though I myself am rather angry at those kids who are sXe for 10 minutes and then change their mind. They remind me of those kids who OD and such for attention. It's pathetic and really disgusting, as for the hard-liners....really, I have no explanation for them. Other than the fact that they were taught the WRONG thing, violence is in a form a drug. One violent act leads to another. As for the sex thing, I myself am still a virgin and I intend to keep it that way for as long as possible, probably until the day I die. Mostly because..I have no interest in it at all and I've gone this long without it. Why start now? This is my choice, not yours. Just like it isn't my choice if you are sXe yourself.

Cheap Sex – Fuck Emo Lyrics 18 years ago
I do love this song...but I just need to say, I've seen pictures of Cheap sex and such...really they DO look the part of 'emo'. Maybe no make-up, but the tight clothes are there. I agree with strikesomewhere on everything that they have said, but oldskoolpunker23 as for your hit at sXe, why should it matter to you? I know few, if any Straight Edge kids that would lecture or force you to become one as well. I've only talked to kids I actually care about, trying to get them to stop damaging themselves. I think oldskoolpunk23 is a stereotypical punk or skinhead whichever it is anymore. I forget. But this stereotyping thing can't souly be placed just upon emo, it is also in punk and rap and other generes. Just emo is the most known as of late, it's sad really. I do enjoy most of the music and I hate kids dissing or judging me just souly upon that. It's pathetic and also as bad as judging upon race and sexual preference.

From First to Last – Waltz Moore Lyrics 18 years ago
From what I've read about him, he did struggle with bulimia. I'm not sure if he is over it yet, but this song /might/ be a closing for him. But think about it, this poor boy was shoved into the spot light at the young age of 16 and now that they are REALLY blowing up, they are fans//enemies// and reporters picking everyone of them apart. Finding whatever fault they can and Sonny being the frontman, he gets most of the blows. He isn't ugly, by any standard. His teeth are sticking out everywhich way or anything, he is a gorgeous boy. But people are just finding whatever they can wrong with him, just to make him seem like he isn't perfect. We don't want celebrities to be perfect, because they already have more money and more people after them then we do. So we find little faults about them and go crazy about it. This song really doesn't need an explination. It should be easy to tell what's going on here, Sonny doesn't feel like he's up to standards with what everyone is saying about him. He's just an insecure teenager who is worried about how they look and how people see them and no one can blame him for that. The poor guy has probably been through more than anyone else. He hasn't just had a few people picking on him, he has the whole /world/ trying to find fault with him.
