I think the "mother" could refer to Eve and how she betrayed us by condemning us all to die from sin, and that our "Father" loves and bathes us by providing us hope through baptism. |

I'd have to concur. I loved the entire Devil and God except for handcuffs. It's a good song but I don't think it lives up to the perfection of the other songs |

I think this song also has a lot to do with death. The King Beetle gets angry with the professor and the lieutenant because they can only describe what the fire was like, not what it was. so to, science can describe death in 'finest detail' and the military can analyze and quantify death, but neither can say what it is, just what it seems. |

Just a correction to the part about Daniel by breathingbywires: Daniel wasn't one of the three Hebrews who refused to bow down to the image. This is referencing the part when Darius, the Mede, issued a decree saying that no one should worship any god but him or else they would be thrown into a pit of lions. Daniel was known to pray several times a day in a chamber and when he heard the decree he immediately went to that chamber and began praying, knowing the consequences but realizing what was more important; and, Because of his faith God delivered him, like he did the three Hebrews who were thrown into the furnace for not worshiping a idol. |
