Midnight Oil – King Of The Mountain Lyrics | 18 years ago |
My favourite Oils song. This song reminds of just being part of this wonderful country, the Australian summer and for some reason, cricket. |
Midnight Oil – The Dead Heart Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"We carry in our hearts the true country." I love this line purely for the reason that no matter how Americanized Australian society is becoming, deep in our hearts we can only be Australian and what it stands for. |
Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song makes me miss Ian Curtis. Beautiful song, i loved it the moment i heard it. |
The Smiths – Handsome Devil Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"And when we're in your scholarly room who will swallow whom?" Is Morrissey the only person who can get away with such a lyric? As for the song, it's one of their best. CharmingMan you are spot on when it comes to Marr's music. I sometimes feel he's very underrated. Their's also sadness to his music which went so well with Morrissey and made The Smiths such a great band. |
Morrissey – The Loop Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I know this probably sounds rather morbid but when Moz passes away i'm going to listen to this song and start crying my heart out when i hear this line... "I just wanna say I haven't been away I am still right here Where I always was" |
Morrissey – Moon River (Extended) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I adore this song. How i love you Morrissey. |
Morrissey – Jack The Ripper Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Your face is as mean As your life has been" What a line, what a song!! |
The Smiths – The Queen Is Dead Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I swear to God, I swear I never even knew what drugs were" I don't know if he did it on purpose or not but i love it when his voice breaks when he sings 'were'. Just after the "Take me back to dear old Blighty" bit you can hear Moz sing something well he is saying "By land, by sea". He really doesn't like the Royal family... |
The Smiths – That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I've seen this happen in other people's lives and now it's happening in mine" This made me cry. |
The Smiths – I Know It's Over Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When i first heard this i thought "How does Moz know about my life?". He has this way of connecting with everyone and he could be speaking dribble but yet we still understand him. |
The Smiths – Sheila Take a Bow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It reminds me a bit of "Ask" where in my opinion Morrissey is trying to tell someone to come out of their shell. I love the line "Take my hand and off we stride...", it's as if he's saying "I'll come with you if you like and help you". Just my thoughts. |
The Smiths – Cemetry Gates Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't know why people can call Moz unhappy and miserable when he has songs like this. He's clearly taking the mickey out of himself. And just in case no one knew the last line of the song is.... "Because weird lover Wilde is on mine" I always used to think that he said either Shut up or Sugar and i'd sing accordingly. It is Sure though. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight, Tonight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song means a lot to me. It helped me through a hard time. And to think they weren't even going to release this song as a single!! Corgan is a musical genius and this song defines him. |
Morrissey – Whatever Happens, I Love You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This was the first solo Morrissey song i heard. Liked it the second i heard it. When he sings "It's still you i love", it has to draw something to you. No matter what and through everything he hasn't lost his love. |
The Smiths – Ask Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's that Morrissey wants someone to ask him something, but this person is reluctant maybe because of shyness/coyness. It's cute how he won't say no either. He'll do it for this one person. |
The Smiths – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I adore this song! It's my favourite of all time. I read in an interview once that for awhile Marr thought that this song was about him and Morrissey, not in a sexual way, just because when the song was written, them two were always together and living together. One of the best pieces of songwriting ever. |
The Smiths – Girlfriend in a Coma Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When i first heard this song i fell in love with it, as i did with all Smith songs. The way Morrissey sings 'My, my, my, my, my, my baby, goodbye', makes me love it even more. It's beautiful. I agree with Kez's (2nd post) take on this song. |
