Gorillaz – Don't Get Lost in Heaven Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song could be interpreted in an anti-suicidal way. All of 2-D's lyrics are about some pretty depressiving stuff. But then Choir comes in and is saying that although there is a lot of stuff going wrong, you are still in heaven. You still have a lot of people you can turn to. You'll make a big mistake if you do. And then it leads directly into the uplifting song demon days.

Mos Def – Rock N Roll Lyrics 17 years ago
I don't think he's neccessarily saying that all these white artists weren't good artists, because, even Mos Def knows this, without them music wouldn't be where it is today. Mos Def's music wouldn't be the same. But everyone thinks that Elvis Presley and The Rolling Stones created rock n' roll, and I think he is just trying to say that this type of music was around before these people popularized it. Don't hate Mos Def for speaking his mind.

The Format – If Work Permits Lyrics 17 years ago
i love this song, it is the first i have heard by the format where they seem to just jam out, at the end of this song that is.

I just have a question, my friend and i were debating this and didnt really come up with a definate answer. The two voices that are singing during the first corus, are both voices the lead singer...or is it someone else singing at the same time as him?

Bloc Party – This Modern Love Lyrics 17 years ago
First read the title, and think about "This Modern Love."

This song just shows how different the world is now, so different that it even changed how people depict love. "I will pay for you...anytime;" in the context of the song it seemsIt's to be used as a synonym for i love you, just showing that paying for someone is the "best" way to show your love in this day and age. There are many lines in this song that give this message "ive been paid, ive been paid," as if that is when he and his girlfriend or whoever can actually be together, because he has money now, and when he sings "you bought me a book," it's just like that was the girls way of saying she loved him back. It just shows how materialized love has become, even without realizing it. I think when he sings "This modern love, breaks me...This modern love, wastes me," he is just saying how that modern love is not love, that buying things is not a way to show you care for someone.

If you agree with me slightly, read Whill's comment on the first page. Whill pretty much explains the rest of the lyrics quite well.

Blessid Union of Souls – Light In Your Eyes Lyrics 18 years ago
anyone who has ever been in love and not been able to stay with that person forever for whatever reason knows exactly what this song means, and it is almost painful to listen to it, but you can't deny how well written and true this song is.

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Lyrics 18 years ago
anyone who thinks this song is about AIDS is just an idiot. how could anyone write something on a topic that did not even exist at that point. saying mr. mercury wrote this song about his fatal battle with AIDS is like saying that the doors wrote the song "the end" about a soldier in the war with iraq, its just not possible. the people who think this song is about AIDS should really try to get that through your thick skulls

The Postal Service – Brand New Colony Lyrics 18 years ago
maybe it is about that play, but i have my own take on it. When i first heard this song i loved the music and i thought it was actually about falling in love and wanting to start a whole new life, but when ben gibbard talks about the "brand new colony" i thought of that as wanting to start a family with the love that he wants to run away with. does anyone else have that same idea? well after reading some of these posts my thought of the meaning of this song has changed a little, but i still can't help thinking that it is about starting a family in a way.

PLEASE COMMENT ON THIS IF YOU HAVE INPUT.

The Beatles – Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Lyrics 18 years ago
Well obviously this song is about getting married and having a family, but its also about drugs. Ob-la-di, ob-la-da is a drug in this song which is made obvious from the very last line. I think it just shows how fond the culture was of drugs and how much happier they made people, or at least made them feel.
