Yeah it'd be silly for it to be about Chauntelle except that the two events were only half a year apart... but anyway I meant to mention that throughout the previous album Adam self-admittedly wrote a lot of the songs towards that event.

I'm not saying he still wants to be with her (hence the title this is all now) it's kind of just a final attempt at understanding an event that is still obviously clear to him (sits a broken man that needs to understand). Once and for all he just wants the truth.

I think this song may be Adam's final message in song-form to Chauntelle Dupree... I seem to recall 'everything must go' was about her and mentioned a lot of religious references such as this song. In the line "at the heart of your convictions sits a broken man that needs to understand" Adam seems to be just wanting nothing but to understand what happened with their relationship. I don't know if this is correct at all though since he's married with a child now. |

The track no love sort of adds to this point in that I'm pretty sure that whole song is directed towards Kim and the fact that she didn't help him even at his lowest point made him realize that he doesn't need her in his life. |

This song is on a whole other level, it's so raw. But I'm pretty sure that whole last verse is directed towards his mom and not Kim at all... he even says mother and she is Hailie's grandmother after all, but that's just what I got out of it |

This song seems to me seems like a breakup as fashionchick hinted at... it even could have been him who broke up with her, but realize it could have been a bit rushed in the ending of it, so then he's not sure if he should actually approach her again hence "moving in so slow" but once he saw her with another guy "oh no, this couldn't be more unexpected", those old feelings may have rushed back to him. This is reflected in "could this be out of line? to say you're the only one breaking me down like this?" in that she's the only one who is constantly and consistently on his mind even though he's the one who ended it.. towards the end he realizes he's aching for that person and hopes that she will still take him back. "You're the only one I would take a shot on." |

I agree with boney, but also I would like to add what I took it as in relation to relationships. When I first actually listened to the words of this song it reminded me of a breakup in which you still talk to the person, even though it may have been one of the worst breakups... ones where getting over said person can only be done through complete isolation from that person, while the other person still is trying to get back together, what I got from "Twist my arm if that's the way you think you're gonna work this whole thing out
You know you own my body, but don't think that you control my mouth" line. And having been together a while mutual friends were bound to be made, and therefore the other person in the previous relationship could know something about you you had no clue would even get to that person, this thought relates to "You're not supposed to know Anything" line. The first two opening lines though make me think of a brand new relationship, or acquaintance. |

Hmm never thought of that line in that way elf4life but I like the interpretation, the part before the chorus right before "I watch my neighbor's son in the road..." gives me chills when he's saying "ahhhww SHIT"; just sums up the frustration of the song perfectly & his ability to notice everything about other people making it obvious he notices EVERYTHING about himself, good or bad. |

Man, every time I read through TBS lyrics I'm unsure of, it makes me respect them more as lyricists. This has a lot more meaning than I thought, especially the beginning verse "it bleeds horizontal straight from your wrist" into the chorus it's love.... good stuff. |

I took it was being about weed in that at the beginning he says he's home alone again, meaning no one's at his house, most likely parents, or others who may not want him to smoke. And the rendezvousing a quarter to seems to be a reference to a nickname "Mary Jane", meaning he can step outside or smoke or his choice of place. I just realized it could be about this this morning when listening to it. Either way, love or weed, it's an amazing song. Sidenote: If you're a stoner and know the feeling of your parents being gone from the house for a lil toke you could understand. |

bmrhye That's the exact interpretation I thought of. I mean where else could you let all your thoughts wander and come to realize that you love the person you've been with then in an elevator? (There are other places, but since it's named Crowded elevator ;) ) And once this realization hits it's like he can't just blurt it out in front of all those unknowing people, he has to hold it in and hope that his emotions will remain until the lobby! |

I agree with the thought that it's about the laziness that they experienced, but could it also refer to the wasted time of being with a girl who ended up being nothing as she cheated on Pete, since the whole "Take This To Your Grave" was written in part due to that failing relationship, and what is Astoria a reference to?? |
