Hurt – Overdose Lyrics 18 years ago
Great song to get wasted to...really! Now with that being said, song is about a guy who feels ignored by his girl, so he begins to take drugs to deal with it. The Morpheus reference means that the drug is likely Morphine. (named after Morpheus, the Roman god of dreams) He is upset with the drug itself, as its purpose is to numb pain...but it isn't helping with the pain that he feels emotionally. Wonder if any drug companies are working on that kind of drug, could be pretty cool.

Atomship – day of daze Lyrics 18 years ago
This is such a great opener to one of the greatest albums of all-time. I think Atomsplitter is right about it being a boy's mother dying, more specifically thru the eyes of the child the day of the death. (therefore Day of Daze) The first lines appears to be before the mother's death...with the devil being "just out of frame". After her death, most likely abruptly thru some kind of accident, the child can't believe she is really gone. "Mother, where are you..." and recounts happy memories of her "Twisting and turning and loving and braiding your hair". The final line of the verse is one of my favorites "It was a good day....she died!" describes how quickly life can change. The next verse is the child grieving and questioning how God has taken away his mother "Father where are you? I thought you were my friend". I am still trying to breakdown the next line...any thoughts? My only guess there is from an actual father's perspective where he claims he will be everything to the child, and take on the role of the mother. The end of the song seems to be about her death making him appreciate the true value of life "With her head this close to the floor, I feel so alive...Just let me die old". Anyways, thats my interpretation of the song.

A Perfect Circle – Orestes Lyrics 18 years ago
People have all analyzed this song so well, so i will stay away from the obvious. One thing that i've noticed when i listen to this song (which is a lot), the whole mood changes around the 1:27 marker right after Orestes states "i can almost hear you scream". In my mind, it is at this point in the song where he likely killed his mother. The sound that comes thru at this point is hard to describe, and i honestly have no idea why...but it just sounds like music that someone would commit murder to. yes, i am probably crazy...but that's what it means to me. CatharsisX, as crazy as this sounds, i actually really enjoyed your paper...especially your statement about the "medicated moment" being a request for Sleep, as that made total sense to me. Plus this fits right in with the timeline of Orestes killing his mother right before hand. Well, thats all i have for now. I am sure this is probably completely off, but oh well...that's what it means to me!

Atomship – agent orange Lyrics 18 years ago
Clearly a political song, but for those left wondering about the name...here is some food for thought!

Agent Orange was the code name for a herbicide developed for the military. The purpose of the product was to deny an enemy cover and concealment in dense terrain by defoliating trees and shrubbery where the enmy could hide. The product "Agent Orange" (a code name for the orange band that was used to mark the drums it was stored in, was principally effective against broad-leaf foliage, such as the dense jungle-like terrain found in Southeast Asia. Agent Orange was used extensively during the Vietnam war, with roughly 20 millions gallons dispersed throughout the conflict. The TCDD found in Agent Orange is thought to be harmful to man. In laboratory tests on animals, TCDD has caused a wide variety of diseases, many of them fatal. TCDD is not found in nature, but rather is a man-made and always unwanted byproduct of the chemical manufacturing process. Agent Orange was later found to be extremely contaminated with TCDD. Many believe that the goverment and chemical companies knew of the harmful side effects during the war, but kept the information quiet. Love how they placed Agent Orange right before Time for People. While it's unclear who Time for People is about, i always like to believe it is about Bush...and Agent Orange seems to give provide some basis for that.
