Placebo – Slave To The Wage Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is about the monotony of the daily grind (the "Rat Races") and how people should break away from it and kiss their "worries and cares goodbye".
As mentioned, Bob Dylan wrote a song called "Maggie's Farm" which is along the same lines ("I ain't gonna work on Maggie's farm no more"). Suggesting Placebo drew from this song for the idea for this one.

Placebo – Song To Say Goodbye Lyrics 18 years ago
The Neil Young reference is probably just because Placebo are Young fans. I saw them live a couple of years ago and Brian Molko broke out into "Once I thought I saw you, in a crowded hazy bar" which are lyrics from Neil Young's "Like a Hurricane". Young's haunting voice can definitely be compared to Molko's.

Feeder – Shatter Lyrics 18 years ago
Bit of Feeder trivia for you - Shatter was released as a double A side with Tender. And whilst the song Shatter doesn't actually include it's title, Tender does...

Feeder – Buck Rogers Lyrics 18 years ago
Sorry to break it to everyone but I'm pretty sure this song has no actual meaning. I've heard Nicholas say he wrote the song whilst trying to sound like The Pixies (who, as we all know, wrote a lot of nonsense songs). You can certainly see similarities if you are familiar with The Pixies, particularly I think with Gouge Away.

Nikola Sarcevic – Lovetrap Lyrics 18 years ago
This is a beautiful song, and very powerful to anybody who has experienced a break-up.
The subject of the song is pretty clear. It's about the break-up of a relationship that has lost its love and Sarcevic's agonising over his ex meeting somebody else, knowing she'll never come back to him.

Feeder – Can't Stand Losing You (cover Of Police Song) Lyrics 18 years ago
This song was actually a b-side to Just a Day - the last single released before Jon Lee's death, adding yet more to the coincidence.
The Feeder version of this song actually goes:
"You'll be sorry when I'm gone". I can only assume this is because they didn't really want to sing about suicide, they aren't that kind of band.

Brilliant song though, I love the drum work at the end by Lee. In my opinion this version is far superior to The Police's version, but then I probably am biased!

Oasis – Hello Lyrics 18 years ago
This song speaks to me at the moment because my girlfriend left me a few months ago. To me it is talking about the fact that nothing will ever be the same until life the way it was returns (which it probably won't). It's not so much about "getting over it" - the only reference to this is the "ain't no sense in feeling lonely" line - as it is about feeling rubbish about things.
"The years are going by.." refers to time passing and still feeling just as crap about things.
That's what it says to me anyway!

Oasis – Rock 'n' Roll Star Lyrics 18 years ago
The meaning of this song seems pretty clear to me, it was the first track on Oasis' first album.
To all the people who didn't care about Liam and Noel before they're saying, now you do care because we've made it and we're famous.
There's also reference to people who'd told them it was stupid to persue a career in music. Telling them all the work had paid off and they'd left their "lives in the city" behind.
