So I've never heard of acid called the green ranger before, but I'm convinced that is what the songs about. The lines about sensorial details, "electrifies the night, and amplifies the sight" definitely convey that meaning. Also, in Frizzle Fry - a song about an acid house at Les' college - there is a line, "Andy's painting green again, this time they might take him away". Seems like he often notes acid with a tad bit of wariness, "Watch out or you might loose the plot". Finally, the "Nevada city fire" certainly seems to indicate Burning Man. And yes, Les is partially deaf in his right ear from a supposed diving accident, possibly on acid, I don't know - that detail has never been mentioned. But yeah, great new tune with a very ambient tone! |

I've tried looking up these weird creepy crawlies, but have only turned up a little evidence of these facts in the song being even agknowledged as true (copulating praying mantus' for example). Anyone know if these are just silly madeup facts, or if there are such beastly insects? |

In an interview Les explained that the song simply was he and Ler wanting to do a theme for something. So they did this little goof of a ditty. Ironicly they would be asked to do the theme for South Park just after Tim left the group for a few years, or as I like to call them Primus' Shit Years. |

When I saw Les and the Fancy band at Bonnaroo this past July, in the middle of this ditty he comented at what the song was about. He spoke of how we as Americans seam to have trouble excepting others gaining more new/better material possetions. As Americans, we have to be the best at it all, we look at others and concider that at that momment they indeed have began a contest which declares the person with the more nice/geniune object, the winner. Let me shed some insight. well the line "there ain't no cure for suicide," basicly tells what the songs about. Once your dead, your dead, so be sure you really want to be dead. Also, Les was a carpenture before he became a famouse lyricist/bassist/frontman. So if he is unable to write anymore, hes gonna go back to buuilding rather than kill himself. Trey and Stuart are the other dudes so there you go with that. I don't know who Danny is though so scream if you do.Also it should be notted that this was the last song before their encour at Bonnaroo '06, it was amazing. Afterward Stuart told us he whanted to run naked umong us. |

The songs about the admenastration of many groups, mostly having to do with education or careers i think. In ye old days, to attend public school you had to take a test that showed you being worthy of school or not. The catch22 was that the test scored most average children as mentaly retarded. Such as in the song. The guys not concidered worthy to get the chance to make something out of himself for he is of "Nonphenomenal Lineage." So they send him packing. I think its Grandaddy basicly pointing out whats wrong with the design of some sellection programs in our society. |

I got back from bonnaroo sometime ago, and Les was the main reson why I attended. Now during the performance he briefly stated that to do your neighbor one better, is just American nature. The song is a satire, displaying in self explanitory lyrics (which causes me to question why I am writing this) the American attitude which is both loathsome and stupid. OH, and I got the fucking set list from the show! |

Just sort of a story about a circus narrarated by a sort of loon. The story is self explanitory, and has no message to speak of for the most part. It's a dark and disturbing atmosphere, which stays true to Wait's more macbre "Real Gone" sound. Deffinetly my favorite song on the album. Oh, and for those who don't know Zuzu Bolin and Stavin' Chain are early blues artist from the south. AND PLEASE! if anyone can tell me what that instument is that is often used in circuses and street performances (the cliche ones with the dancing monkey in the fez holding the money cup and the guy playing the instrument.) Well it does have to do with slaves, but i'm almost positive that it dosn't ever take place on a slave ship; the story that is. The line about the ship is describing the barn, the barn appears like the hull of a capsized slave ship. And the final lines of the song are about taking a raft down the mississippi and ohio rivers. I get the suspicion that the main character like Yaqqai said is hiding a secret. And he is using a slave as a spy or henchman to do his bidding, or to find out whats going on. There is some tretchory afoot, but i'm not sure who is causing it. The narrator, or the "they" brought up in the interagation between the narator and his slave. |

Actually I havn't really checked the lyrics, but from the chorus I think its a sort of silique from the perspective of a conservitive goverment official. They don't want to make a scene for the public, but they are addressing thier minions to take care of the problem without making a mess. They are also fearful about losing the numbers in their population poles. I think the spade is a simale in a way making the polition a gardner, picking out the renegade weeds who could dismantle all that the gardner has worked for. So yeah, a song in the perspective of a conservitive leader who is fearful of over informed revolutionaries. |

So I thought I'd thow in my two cents, as some before me have wisley noted, the song is not meant to be lyricly compelling (Nor are many Primus tunes) but this actually is based off of an old kids story which has many counterparts. For instance the cool cat figure; much like the now haggered Tommy, can be witnessed in the animated Disney film The Aristicats. I think its brilliant as well to bring in the great Tom Waits as Tommy. |

As I understand it theres a current rumor stating that the song was conjuerd up the same way lucy in the sky with dimonds was. As the story goes I belive it was Les who's son told him this imaginative story of The Little Faces, Les loved the imaginative idea and drafted an idea of the figment creatures; later to be further developed into a song mostly due to the work of Trey. Theres another addition to the tale, the claims rthe child singing in the last momments of the song is Les's child singing the original story, or so it is told. |

The song is sort of expressing what i believe to be Les's take on what the primal scences of our moronic presidant are. He's a bastered who is a deserter and does all he can just to reap the expansive wealth in any situation, AND he likes to be a caowboy. I hate him to.
