I heard Nanci Griffith's cover of first as well...it's definitely worth a listen. I listened to this song a lot in the months before I started college, because it sort of reminded me of my own situation...leaving my boyfriend of over a year to go to school, without really knowing when my next chance to go home would come. Unlike the song however, we're still together and I'm transferring to a closer school. I think part of the beauty of a lot of Dylan's music is that, no matter what it is about, lots of people can identify with at least a part of the song and feel like it's about them. Everyone likes songs that might be about them. |
